photobooth rental? is it worth it?

A friend of mine who is getting married is renting one of those photobooths that you see at the mall or the beach. She's really excited about it and it seems cool, but I'm wondering if it's worth all the money or if guests will even use it? She's paying 950 for 4 hours. I dont remember where she said she was renting it from.Anyway, have any of you rented one for a wedding, or been to a wedding where there was one and what were the reactions? Was it used at all or was it kind of just a waste?Thanks so much ladies!

I know people who are renting them and I've been to functions with them and while they're not necessary at all they are a fun addition to a party. There are people who use the photo booth instead of buying favors so you could think of this as REALLY expensive favors... IMO, its a lot of $ to spend on something that isn't necessary but if you really want one and you have extra money to spend and/or budgeted for it then sure why not.

Are you asking for you, or for her? Sounds like it's worth it for her, since she's so happy about it, and maybe not for you if you aren't sure it's very exciting.People get excited about different things, everyone has a little special splurge and areas they choose to save money. For me, it's definitely the clam chowder. My friend thinks I'm out of control for paying $900 for soup. No soup for her. ;-)

Sorry! let me clarify, I'm asking for me..It seems like a nice idea and touch to a reception, but I've never seen it done. I just wanted to get some more opinions to see what people think. I'd be so bummed to spend all that money to have no one use it if that makes any sense.

My friend used one & it was a huge hit!  There was a line the whole night.  She has always been in to taking photos so it was the perfect splurge for her wedding.

I've never been to a wedding that had one, but I know other people who have and they said it was AWESOME.  They said there was always a line, and that they loved that they got to take home a set of pictures too.  I think it's a great idea.  We were planning on getting a photobooth (when we FIRST got engaged, we took pics in a photobooth of us holding signs that said: "SHE" "SAID" "YES" "12/12/2007" and used them for postcards for our engagement party invites/engagement announcements). But since then, we've decided NOT to pay for a photobooth, and instead to do something like this:http://www.kissthegroom.com/?p=2958

We are doing a photobooth - renting from Boston Photobooth. I won't even tell you how much it cost us because I'll get slapped probably. I didn't want them wheeling it out through my guests halfway through the night, so had to pay for the whole evening. We LOVE photo booths. We have pics of us from a few we've hopped into. I've never seen one at a wedding (which, is why I wanted one, since it's about the only thing someone in my crowd hasn't done) - but they've been at big city parties we've been to, and there was always a line all night long. Huge hit. And we get a DVD of all the shots afterward, and a guestbook for people to sign next to their strips. I think it all depends on what you want to splurge on, and what your crowd is like. With our group - we'll have to drag people out of the booth to dance most likely - but not every crowd might like it.
