Boston bachelorette party help

I'm a former LA knottie, and I'm planning my sister-in-law's bachelorette party in Boston in a few weeks.  We're doing a dinner, which is all set, and then going out after.  Problem is, I don't live in Boston and I have no idea of good places for going out!  (The bride has requested that we do not go to Fanueil Hall.)  I'm hoping to find a somewhat upscale but also fun bar, and it has to be in Boston proper.  Do you have any suggestions?  Thanks!

You could go to Jacques, which is a drag show.  The shows are about 1.5 hours long and I'm sure someone can help you with bars in the area (I don't know the city too well myself).  They book up fast though and I wasn't able to go there for my sister's bachelorette.  We went to the Liquor Store on Boylston St. which wasn't really my scene but she had a fun time.

I really like Match Burgers and Martini Lounge. It's upscale but not snooty and a really good time. Also, the Oak Bar is a very upscale bar/martini lounge that I love to go to for special occassions and the Liberty Hotel bar is really nice and very lively. It's a younger crowd than the Oak Bar so it might fit what you're looking for. hth!

My "usual" is Saint on Exeter St. There's also a new place called Minibar around the corner, but I haven't been there yet.

Check out Whiskey Park in the Park Plaza hotel.  You can reserve a table if you want to get bottle service.  I don't blame your SIL for not wanting to go to Faneuil Hall!

Where are you having dinner?  Did you want to stay in that general area?  If we know the restaurant it may focus the suggestions.

Saint & Whiskey Park are both good options Gypsy bar is another option- tends to get ridiculously crowded though and can have a younger crowd- not sure if want that.

I agree, Gypsy is a lot of fun. Tia's on the Waterfront is nice to have drinks outside next to the harbor. We usually end up at McFaddens but that probably counts as the fanueil hall area. Liquor Store is a "drink until you decide to ride the mechanical bull" type of place.

I like both Match and Alibi (Liberty Hotel).  You should be able to reserve a table at Alibi, so you won't have to wait in line.

The Roxy on Tremont street has Chippendale shows every other friday. Its nice because the show is 18+ so if you have some younger BM's then they can still do dinner and the show with you. I think it starts at 8 and is done by 9:30. If your friend is looking for silly fun, the definatly go to the liquor store and make her ride the bull! Just a warning there, they serve beer in cans, lol. Also, if you call places ahead of time and tell them that you have a bachelorette party coming, they will give you a free cover and you may even be able to score a bottle of champagne!
