Candy Bar Brides

How long before the wedding did you buy/order the candy for your candy bar. And where did you get the candy from?  TIA!

Shop around for prices!  My sister got a lot of hers from Sam's Club and got great prices and didn't pay shipping.

I couldn't find unwrapped candy at Sams or Costco.  First timers get 10% off at metrocandy, so the discount negates shipping fees.

Not sure how the prices are here compared with the other sites, but  they have candy sorted by color and theme, so it's good for ideas.http://www.candywarehouse.com/

We're getting ours the week of the wedding, at Costco. We aren't picky, so we'll just work with whatever they have! But if you want to do a color/theme with the candy - online is probably the best option - GL!

Here's a silly question.....do you have to set the candy bar up yourself or do most venues do that for you?  And will they replenish the jars if you provide?  I know dumb right?

Not a dumb question.  My catering contract included the assistance of a coordinator.  She promised to set up the candy buffet (even though I was a control freak and asked her if I could do it for her).  She also gave my DH her word that she would replenish the jars throughout the night. The candy buffet rolled out at around 10pm.  My coordinator had already left for home.  Within 20 minutes, half of the jars were empty and nobody bothered to replenish them.  I didn't know where the extra candy was stored, so I had no luck with that.  It really bothered me b/c I bought 160 lbs of candy. Please stress to your coordinator how important it is to replenish the jars.

Oh my goodness thanks for sharing that.  I will definitely make it a point of stressing the importance of knowing who would set it up and replenish.  I'm sorry that happened to you though.

Fool makes a really good point - when we had our tasting and mentioned the candy buffet, our venue made it clear that they would not be responsible for it. We're having ours at the beginning of the night, and probably won't refill them, so I'm not too worried. But I do have a DOC and I'm sure she'll keep an eye on it.

I ordered some stuff today, about 5 weeks out. Ordered some through candywarehouse.com (if you go through ebates.com to get to the site, you get 5% cash back). Got some other stuff from bulkfoods.com and groovycandy.com. We're going to go to BJs for the rest.
