Colors!

Hi Ladies! I am having so much trouble picking my colors! We have already picked out the grooms bridal party suits ( medium gray and white pinstripe Tommy Hilfiger suits) but I can't for the life of me pickout a bridesmaid/flower etc. color scheme. There isn't a single color that I feel drawn to? Does anyone have any ideas on how they found their color inspirations? I'm getting married next June- an early summer wedding! Thanks! Sage

I went through pics on the knots real wedding and found a color combo that I liked. My BM dresses are Blue and my flowers are pink and white.

We decided NOT to pick colors.  Our invites are ivory & dark brown, but at our actual ceremony the flowers and decor will be lots of bright colors (blue, teal, hot pink, orange, and lime green).  We plan on using tropical flowers.  You don't have to pick just 1-2 colors.  You can use anything you like.  I do think it's nice to stay in the same tone--like all pastels, all bold colors, all bright tones, etc.  With they grey suits, bubblegum colors would look pretty: pink, blue, green, yellow, coral.
Yay! Finally able to update my signature :)

the suits sound great!  Are they buying or renting? I got mine from the Snippet & Ink and Style Me Pretty blogs.  There is also the Perfect Pallette.  I'm doing mid-June and my colors are navy, ivory and various pinks.  If you like navy, there are a bunch of inspiration boards in my bio.

I looked at other friends and family's pictures from their wedding.  After I picked the place, I felt drawn to a coastal elegant theme and went with midnight navy blue dresses and bright orange flowers accented with ivory and light blue.  I think looking through other people's wedding pictures definitley helps!  Also, look around at your place and see if you get an inspiration from that.

I had a lot of trouble as well, so I really stuck with black and white with touches of green--and then pops of deep pink (in the flowers) and gray/blue (flowers and the bridesmaid dresses). At first, I really thought I had to stick with a color theme (just green, white and black), but I'm glad I kind of added pops here and there without going overboard--IMO, a heavy-handed color theme can look overdone.

Why not go hang out at your venue for a bit? Check out the wallpaper, carpets, hardware and general feel of the place. If you are out doors ask which flowers they generally plant (what I did) and see what colors seem to flow with the style of the wedding you have picked out so far.Like gardenbyrd I agree that a few simple colors to build a palette around is really all you need.

OMG I read frosen's response and was thinking "those are my friend Faryn's wedding colors", then I realized frosen IS my friend, Faryn LOL. Anyways...I picked Tiffany blue cuz it's been my favorite color like FOREVER and found a pic in a magazine of a Tiffany blue wedding with flowers in hot pink, light pink, peach and white. I thought the colors were perfect for a spring wedding (mine is May) and went with it. Try checking out wedding magazines they have a lot of pictures of real weddings and of set up tables. When I first saw the pic I knew I had to have my wedding look like that and bought the mag even though it's a British wedding mag and didn't help me much elsewhere.

I chose blue and brown because it was a color combination I have liked for awhile (so I wouldn't hate it in a year) and both my FI and I could agree on it.  Then I thought maybe Blue and Brown was too played out (in our lives...our bedroom and bathroom have these colors).  So I decided to do brown and green...but the blue snuck back in.  So now it's brown, pale blue and pale green.  I also am not opposed to adding other pastels if I find something I want in my wedding.
