Rants/Raves: Hyatt Regency Cambridge

Hi Everyone!  I've started looking in to the Hyatt Regency in Cambridge for our wedding.  It looks beautiful, so I figured I'd ask if anyone has had or been to a wedding here?  Any advice or comments on the place would be great!  Thanks!

I have a review in my Bio. I had my wedding there this past July. A few other gals are getting married there next year, too.Let me know if you have any specific questions.

I'm getting married there in April. They were very willing to work with my budget and offered many different options for cutting some of the costs. The Charles View Ballroom has an amazing view. I'm working with Robert and he is very calm and relaxed, which makes me feel more at ease. Also, he said he's been working there for something like 10 years, so I'm not worried that he'll just pick up and leave before my wedding.

I am getting married there October of 2010. So far we are really happy with our decision! The view is gorgeous and most importantly- they were willing to work with our budget. We are working with Ashley there and she has been really helpful. All our questions are always answered within 24 hours, and she and they staff have been so helpful during our numerous visits. The Hyatt Regency in Cambridge is definitely worth checking out :)

me too me too! getting married there next June.  Nothing but smooth sailing so far.  Working with Robt as well and he has been awesome.  I had honestly looked at every ballroom in Boston and this one won hands down for the best view (minus the State Room nightmares i've heard about). And reasonable. The hotel is older but I got over it quickly when i saw the new CR Ballroom on the top floor. I'm a modern type of gal and its view won me over. Let us know if you have any other questions! jenwindy is the best source since her wedding was last summer :) GL

Thanks everyone!  Has anyone used the Empress Ballroom?  I think the Charles River Room might be booked up.  We're going to check it out next week.

A friend of mine had her wedding in the Empress Room. She loved her wedding and referred me to the Hyatt Cambridge. I checked out that room, but did not love it. It also has a large glass wall and even a small balcony (which the Charles View does not have), however, the room layout is a little strange. It has a sunken dance floor which is below eye-level of where the guests sit. For my small wedding size, it did not work for me. I wanted the room to look as full as possible, not separated and empty. The ceiling is a lot lower, which can make the room feel cozy or claustrophobic. My friend loved her wedding there and raved about it. I don't think the Charles View Ballroom was built at the time. It's only 2-2.5 years old? It used to be a revolving restaurant (Spinnaker). For all the girls working with Rob, I've heard a LOT of good things about him. My friend loved him.

We also looked at the Empress Room.  It still has a great view, and it has the balcony which is good for smokers/guests who want air, they won't have to go all the way down to the lobby.  The balcony is probably also great for pics with the skyline in the background. We didn't like the sunken dance floor, but I think that room is a lower cost than the Charles View so that may be something to consider.
