Back in Boston: Any resolution?

Hey Ladies - I'm back from OBX - any resolution to the vendor issue? It looks like the board has quieted down at least... So I've been looking for a solution about alternate ways of posting our vendor reviews, and haven't come up with much yet. I'm going to talk to some of my techie friends, but I haven't found anything that would be quick and easy - which I need right now since I'm a month from our wedding, haha! Maybe for now the best solution is to post our reviews in our bios, and just have a post telling the board to check out said bio?

I haven't heard any resolution yet, but I could be out of the loop.  I've been checking to see if anyone has any news.Don't stress yourself about this!  A month away you need to destress every second you have!  I like your idea and until we can come up with something better I am on board!

I don't think TK is willing to reach a resolution.  Evidently local moderators have known been about the new rules for the last month or so.  According to TK, they are gradually instituting the new rules, starting city by city.Directing ppl to bio reviews is a good idea.  However, Jen replied to a post re: a vendor she did not book.  I don't think brides will insert bio reviews about all their vendor experiences.  We can always give candid opinions via email, but then the board will get hella boring and ineffective as a public forum.

That's a good point Fool.  This is why we come here, to get advice from other brides. I can't imagine planning now and not getting honest feedback or people feeling like they have to defend themselves.  So many of you have helped me with my decisions.  It just doesn't seem right.

Good points, fool. I think, in my case, I'm going to put my honest reviews in my bio when I have them, and then specifically state on my post that I will not engage in discussions with any vendors on this forum. I'm not anticipating having any negative reviews yet, so far everything has been positive, but my wedding hasn't happened yet. I'm just trying to figure out if it was just that one vendor that was making a stink - or it's all of them? Because so far, things have been quiet, but we haven't heard from our 9/19 brides yet...

Vendors can respond to Yelp, I am pretty sure. When I specifically asked Annie why vendors being allowed to post, one of her points in her email was that TK was one of the only places that vendors were not allowed to post, and they felt they needed to keep up with sites like Yelp, weddingbee, etc.

The only way that a vendor can respond to Yelp is via private message - Even then, the poster has the right to ignore whatever the vendor posted - Once the business owner PMs the person for their review they can't contact that person again until she/he responds to the initial PM

Good to know Manda... Annie used Yelp as an example, however, it's comparing apples to oranges, considering vendor postings here will be public, and yelp is private.

I was just going to echo Mandah - and add that sites like Yelp! are specifically for business recommendations. The knot is not. You're right Shag - it's apples to oranges. I have no idea why TK thinks they need to "keep up" with businesses that are nothing like themselves...

I plan on posting my reviews in my bio as well. I've been thinking this out, or overthinking,  I wonder if vendors will be permitted to respond to your "reviews in bio" post with their version of events. I can see how that might play out.

Scarlet - they can. If we post a "reviews in bio" post, nothing can stop the vendor from posting. I think I'm going to go that route anyways, and note in my post that if a vendor has a problem with my reviews, they can contact me directly. Will they? Who knows - but Shag said last week that this can open up a whole sh*t storm, because once TK locks the post, there is nothing to stop us from doing yet ANOTHER post in response... Right now, I'm not too concerned for myself, because I don't anticipate having any negative reviews (but we'll find out 32 days!) - I'm more concerned for the new brides who are looking for honest reviews in their vendor search. The last issue with a vendor was in a Rant/Rave post, not even a review post!
