    You have to get the license in the state you're getting married. I live in westchester county in NY and we are getting married in Poughkeepsie. We got our license right here in town hall. I'm not sure about the five boroughs if you're referring to manhattan so I would double check that but if you're getting. Arrived in NY, your license has to be from NY.

    You can get a license anywhere in the state and use it anywhere in NYS but NYC.  If you get a license in NYC, it is only good there.

    Thats not true, I got married in Westchester and got my license in City Hall in NYC...everything worked just fine.
