The Hunt Begins Again...

I've taken about a 3 week break from visiting venues because I was so overwhelmed with the process. However, I'm starting again tonight with a trip to the Hyatt Regency. I'm hoping itas a hit as it has a lot of what I'm looking for - muted rugs, windows, a downtown location, and from what I've heard, the pricing is reasonable. Wish me luck! A friend of mine also was married at the Marriott in Kendall Sq. this weekend and had a great time. I'm looking into this possibility as well. Does anyone have feedback on either of these venues?

I looked at the Marriott in Kendall. Over by the museum, right? They have this big, dimming chandelier, bold but tasteful carpets, would work with a fall theme particularly well IMO. I went with the Marriott on Tremont street for better prices, my date availability, right-smack-downtown location, and the right feel, for me. But it was in the running. The Hyatt was.... well, amazing views, for sure. The dance floor is kinda down a ways, kinda around a staircase and down...it is mirrored so it would be neat but would it have interfered w/ pics IDK. We thought, for the price, we did better with our final choice. HTH

My wedding was at Hyatt Regency. Let me know if you have questions. Good luck finding a venue!

The Hyatt in Cambridge has 2 ball rooms. One with the strange dance floor and then another one thats all one level.

I've been to events at the Marriott in Kendall Square.  It's a pretty standard ballroom.

Hi Knotties - Sorry for the confusion, its actually the Hyatt Regency in Boston, not Cambridge. I already looked at the Cambridge hotel, with the two different level room (dance floor with multiple steps down!).   TIA!

Are you looking at the Hyatt in Downtown or Cambridge?  I my wedding at the Downtown location.  After reading about the recent events, I wouldn't do business with either: http://www.boston.com/business/articles/2009/09/17/housekeepers_lose_hyatt_jobs_to_outsourcing/

I can't offer you any help but I am glad that you didn't quit the whole wedding planning thing and that you are back hunting for a venue, again!  I hope the 3 week break helped. (I took a break, too, just recently and I feel better now.)  GL!

So after Fool's comment, I decided she's right. I can't go to the Hyatt - my FI is a Boston Fireman and his union would be SO mad at me. Thanks for the perspective Fool.

We did a room block and brunch at the Cambridge Marriott and their event staff was fantastic. Super nice and easy to work with. I'd recommend them on that basis at least.

I've been to a wedding at the Marriott in Kendall.  As a pp said, they have these huge chandeliers which were beautiful!  I didn't really notice the carpet - which I guess is a good thing.   Food was wonderful.Good luck with the search - I've been married over a year now, but I remember it being so stressful.  It's worth it after it's all over :-)

Shame on Hyatt for tricking those workers.

It really saddens me that we gave the Hyatt any money.  A tight economy does not justify what they did to their unknowing longtime employees.
