Hey Liz, I noticed on the other post that you work for IBM. Are they moving the Marlboro office to Littleton, too? DH works at the Lexington office and is not looking forward to the move because of the increased commute.

Hey hun--I was actually layed off back in February, but as of them, Littleton was to be their 'home base' in MA.  Unfortunatly, they have closed down the Copley office (July of last year), and Westboro office (I believe that was November?), Marlboro is to follow, and Lexington... well, that one may stay for a bit longer.  I think they are recognizing that many people either work from home (like myself), and/or, don't need to come into the office as regularly.  What does he do for IBM, i'm curious now if I ever met him!

Ah, sorry to hear about the layoff. Sometimes life moves us in better directions without us realizing it. One of my good friends from IBM was laid off before you and ended up with a better job as an exec for another company. Life can works itself out. :)DH has worked there for 5 years as a computer software engineer in the old Rational building. He's always hanging out with co-workers. A lot of my friends are IBMers as a result...!

oh yeah... working from home. I am envious! I think he still needs to show face 'cause he's afraid it's frowned upon? Although, I know several people who work entirely from home. hmm.....

Haha-- in all honesty, the layoff was exactly what I needed.  A coworker was able to connect me up with his mom at a different company, and I got a job paying exactly what I was getting at IBM, and 100% less stress around it.  I can't work from home anymore (bummer!!!), but I love it just the same. I was in software sales for IBM-- and the people who work in this area are FANTASTIC!  Without knowing it at the time, we bought our house from an IBMer at the Waltham office. haha.  I happened to notice that there was an IBM poster in the basement by the laundryroom and asked him at the closing if it worked there-- turned out we worked out of the same office, he on the floor below me.  small world- alot of IBMers. ;)  My dad has worked with them for 30+ years coming up next year-- so we all bleed blue at some point.

Glad it's working out with the new job! I had a similar experience after leaving Filene's Basement in December. But hey, way to work your network!  It's a small world indeed. You never know who you might find a job through, or buy houses from, haha...By the way, I just noticed this thread has a star. You're that popular, ladyl!! :)
