Did You Change?

Did anyone change out of their wedding dress into a "going away" outfit at the end of the reception? I'm thinking it might not be a bad idea so I can have someone take my dress home for me right from the reception. Otherwise, we're leaving really early the next morning for our hm and I'm not sure what I'll do with my dress.

Oh yeah-- I had to change.  There was no way I was going to be able to (1) sit in the limo all the way from Sudbury to Boston, and (2) no one could pick up my dress and my DH's tux from our downtown hotel to take back to our house.  It just made sense. ;)

I didn't, but we went home the next day before leaving for our honeymoon.  I would have spent a week in my dress!

I think it's probably a good idea if you're leaving right from the hotel for your HM. Otherwise, you're going to be schlepping your dress around with you. We're not leaving until Monday, so we'll have the day after to get everything home.

I wore it back to the hotel--it was kind of fun to wear it just a little longer. We left the next day for our HM (in the afternoon though), and stopped by our apartment en route to the airport to drop off the dress. We lived in Beacon Hill, and of course there was no parking anywhere. We pulled up in the emergency vehicle spot on the corner for <5 minutes and got slapped with a $75 ticket. Blah! We contested it, but no dice. I'm not sure how generalizable this story is, but there it is.

I'm planning on it.  We're having an after party at the hotel bar after the wedding and i figure at that point being in something lighter will be good and that way my mother can take home my dress for storage when she leaves at the end of the night.

I have a "second" dress (the same one as evseidl ;) ) that I'm changing into after we cut the cake and start dancing. My dress is just too darn heavy to dance in, and I have pre-existing back issues. I figure my DOC will just stick it in my mom's car or something - we're all going back to the hotel after, not leaving for our honeymoon until 2 days later. I'm all for more dresses :)
