Hi! Question for you - did you do a handfasting? It looks like it from your siggy picture :) If so - can I pick your brain? How long was your handfasting cord? I'm thinking of doing an 8 stranded cord (4 colors), and I got like, a yard and a half. Do you think that's long enough?

pick away! :)Yes, we did do a handfasting - info and such is in da bio... My friend actually made it for us, and I've already sent the cord away with my bouquet for preservation, but from my research (just in case the cord didn't make it to the wedding, I wanted to make my own) I think they said 6 feet, braided.. of course a yard and a half is what, 4.5 feet?  I think you'll be ok. =) Whatever length she made for us, it was PLENTY long enough...

Hi! Yeah - I was thinking that since Tom just does a figure 8 with the cord, he doesn't do the wrapping method, that it would be enough. I didn't want to give him this long-a$$ rope and have him struggle with lassoing us.. ha! PS - I LOVE his handfasting. I was Wiccan for 13 years, and mostly got out of it because of all the "Goddess this" "cast a spell that" nonsense - but his version is just perfect!

Aboslutely - It's so much more Elemental-based than Wiccan/Goddess-based, which was perfect for me.  If you can see by the pics, I think Tom actually struggled with the length a little bit, and DH just had to hold the cord as we held hands so that it didnt fall off... no worries though, the meaning was there, and thats all we wanted =)

Exactly! Yes, I'm much more on the natural/elemental side as well, which is why I don't define myself as anything anymore. Still believe in the balance, respecting nature, and energies - but not dancing nekkid under the moonlight... It looks great in the photos! I'm so glad to talk to someone else about this. The second I say "handfasting" people look at me like, "huh?" :)
