For anyone who's visited or had their wedding there, are they really firm on the 125 person minimum or are they willing to go just a little lower? We're inviting around 130 so I'm a little concerned we may not meet the minimum.

I looked at the sister place, the Garrison.  Pretty much every place is firm on the minimum BUT some places will let you count vendor meals towards that number, etc.  In asking that question at a ton of venues, that was all they would say (about counting those meals toward the minimum).

 In my dealings with the lady at the Garrison...i would say they are pretty firm.

I guess my best bet is just to call and ask. Up until now a few venues I spoke with were willing to lower their minimums, others were not.

I don't know anything about your venue, but I would think if you were flexible on the day of the week (i.e Friday instead of a Saturday), time of the day (afternoon instead of night), or time of year (March instead of September), you will have more leverage to negotiate on the guest minimum.

Thanks Mocknine, it does help. We are open to doing a Friday, though we really are set on doing an evening sometime between June and October, which I know is peak season. So we'll just have to see if they'd be willing to negotiate at all.

Sorry melliemel...i didn't realize that you hadn't booked it (or sounds like you hadn't).  And, at the time of my wedding, the venues i spoke to were not that flexible.

ssage, no, we haven't booked yet. Actually I was waiting for them to get back to me on my questions regarding the minimum and pricing before we scheduled a visit, as we are about an hour and 45 minute drive from them.

Fortunately, it looks like the minimums won't be a concern. They contacted me back, and a few of their packages, some of which are only available on Friday and Sunday, say the minimum is 75 guests. The minimum for their most expensive package is 110 on a Friday and 120 on a Saturday.

So if anyone is interested in the Highlands but was worried about the minimum, if you're open to a Friday or a Sunday, they might still be worth checking out.
