Registry: Help with plates?

For those who have registered or have something in mind, what plates have you chosen for everyday and/ or fine china?  Do you plan to register for both?  At a loss and looking for some inspiration!  Thanks.

I love Crate & Barrel.  We registered for Pure but then it was discontinued, so we registered for Maison.  They send you a notice if anything on your registry is being discontinued which is nice.

We registered for just one set of dishes...nice for everyday or a special occasion.Registered at Macy's for pieces from the Denby Jet & Jet Stripes collections....and some platters from the Jet Dots collection.  Sophisicated, durable and oven/microwave/dishwasher/freezer safe!(any metal decoration on dishes will make them NOT microwave safe)http://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=101046&CategoryID=32384We also think they look cool with the Michael Aram leaf & twig stuff:http://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=165715&PseudoCat=se-xx-xx-xx.esn_results

DH and I registered for everyday china at Crate and Barrel. We did not choose  a fine china pattern for a couple of reasons. First, there is china in my family that will likely be passed down to us at some point. Second, DH works in the high end design industry and sells a lot of very exquisite (read: totally unaffordable) china that he hopes to maybe collect someday as he works his way up the company. So we ruled out picking formal china for now. We chose the Staccato pattern at C& B. http://www.crateandbarrel.com/Family.aspx?c=85&f=11019#I liked it because it is simple and white, and will match any decor we have in our home in the future. DH liked it because it was styled after a classic line of Nymphenburg china he adores.Good luck! Choosing your registry items is so much fun! :-)

Oh and jkep made a really good point! If you choose something classic and/or monochromatic, you can always change it up with accent pieces. Versatility!

I chose the Emma dishware at Potterybarn for everyday and Wedgewood Sterling (I registered at Macy's) for fine china.  I went with a more classic, simple pattern for the china that I know I will always love.  I can always accent with chargers and tidbit plates if I want to add some color as time goes on.

White pearl from c&b for china, already had everyday. Love it bc its all white but has little pearls all the way around the rim so it gives it some detail not too plain but I can put whatever color napkins, etc.. with it.

We picked everyday white plates. (my registry is at bed bath and beyond under Katie Backus if you want to took) they have everything white to match. And you can dress them up with a charger, cloth napkin and wine glass but they still look good with a hotdog on them.  I'm getting family dishes so we didn't register for china

We registered for Lenox Solitaire White (not the 5 piece set, the cup and saucer, bread and butter plate, and dinner plate) with Kate Spade Larabee Road accent plate in Platinum to add a little pizazz to the plates. We ended up getting a ton of gift cards during our engagement/shower so we updated our casual things and started purchasing Fiestaware for casual plates. I LOVE the fiestaware. We have already started to purchase things outside the normal 4 piece sets and we use them often. I am looking forward to expanding my collection.

We registered for 2 Essential 16 piece dinnerwear sets from Crate & Barrel for everyday use, and this set from Bed, Bath, Beyond as our "fancywear", as FI calls it: http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/regProduct.asp?order_num=-1&WRN=-549286273&sku=12231300& Accent plate: http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/regProduct.asp?order_num=-1&WRN=-549286273&sku=12353022&

Thanks! It's a great mix. Pretty much have my registry together aside from dinnerware, which I know generally comes first. Just a lot of indecision on our part. I strongly prefer white plates for their versatility while my fiance wants a solid color (not a print). To be honest it's kind of amusing. I try to explain that a lot of the colors are "on trend" and he says he doesn't know what that means or at least why it would matter. He said I should just pick something, but I'd really like to find something that appeals to us both. The options posted are helpful, so hopefully we'll close out our search fairly soon!

We went with Roulette Blue Band from C&B for everyday and Waterford Kilbarry for fine china.  It's all very basic!
