Restaurant Weddings??

Has anyone been to a wedding where they booked out a restaurant or a section of it for the day in Boston? I am considering finding somewhere nice in the city -I cant find a hotel venue I am 100% happy with :( I would like something a little different too.....but of course, budget prevailing....this is tougher than I thought!! :) TIA x

All depends on how large your wedding is... the larger the wedding the most difficult it'll be to find a place. Since restaurants are smaller than banquet halls it can be difficult to find a place to hold your 250 person wedding. If your wedding is on the smaller side you can always rent out a place like The Living Room (in the North End).   If you are willing to go outside the city, L'andana in Burlington does weddings, can hold up to 150 people and has the most amazing food ever! If my wedding was smaller and the ceremony was near Burlington I'd totally snatch that place up!

The Beehive in the South End does weddings.  I saw pictures of one on Lisa Rigby's photography blog, it looked really cool and unique.

my FI and i were seriously considering l'andana in burlington after having an amaaaaazingly yummy dinner there. the space is beautiful and unique and there are plenty of hotel options in the area ...but we were not so much into the $10,000 room rental fee for a saturday wedding and the seriously crazy typos in their emails to us. i also think the alcohol expenses would've been out of control! (we're probably going to have 150-175 guests)sigh. if only ... ; ) good luck!

I went to a small wedding that had their reception at Blue Ginger in Wellsley.  The food was *amazing*!!!  The only downside was that the way the place was set up, the group was split between 2 rooms with a partition between them (partially open).  It just felt awkward since the B&G were in one room and half the guests were separate.  Also, no dancing at this particular wedding.  (oh, and I think the restaurant has since been renovated, so the space may be different). But man, the food was good!!!

Blush... wow a 10k rental fee, yikes! The food is sooo good though, it might even be worth it. Lol.

outrageous, right? and that doesn't include anything (ok, tables/chairs, parking ... ummm ... that might be it.) but agreed ... the food might have justified the cost! yum.

This is not in Boston, but I went to a Sunday wedding at Tosca's Restaurant in Hingham. They closed the restaurant and it was nice because there were three spaces to enjoy.

I had a friend who got married at Evoo in Cambridge/Somerville (not sure which side of the line it's on!)  She had a small wedding, but raved about it.  I've eaten there and the food is yummy!

Try Mantra in downtown Boston.  FI's Indian, so we're having an Indian party there the night before our wedding, but they do Western food too (restaurant itself is French-Indian).  They let you rent out the whole place and their maximum capacity is something like 400 I think - we're nowhere near that, luckily!  The only catch is that you have to leave at a certain time (usually 1030 I think) because they become a nightclub....

I'll add that we did a little tasting there a few weeks ago and the events coordinator mentioned they did a lot of weddings.  FI and I both actually had a moment of thinking maybe we should've done our wedding there and could've saved a lot! GL!

I had mine at Radius. They typically rent out their private dining space downstairs for weddings & special occasions. However, we were fortunate that they were willing to give us the entire restaurant & not have to meet the min food & bev, as their sister restaurant (former) Great Bay was supposed to host it - but closed earlier this year. If you want to buy out the restaurant, I believe it's 28k. Upstairs seats up to 120-130 I think. We only had about 75 so space was never an issue. With food & drinks, it came to about 20k.....but worth EVERY single penny. I can't rave about them enough! So, it really depends on what your budget is.

I looked at Upstairs on the Square originally, which I loved because it was pink all over, but evenually went with The College Club of Boston because it was less money, more space, and I could have more guests, and that isn't even a restaurant which I thought would be cheaper!  I loved the aesthetic of Upstairs though.  And I have also heard great things about The Living Room.

Hi Blush,I was curious, who did you meet with at L'Andana? I had visited there as well to look at the space and talk about pricings and got totally different numbers (and not in a favorable way either!)
