We invited 200 guests, half of which are women (100) so we bought 50 pairs in various sizes (5 - 10) figuring that the older crowd won't use them.

We bought about 50 for a final guest count of 135 and every pair was gone. Young and old took them. Didn't get any men's ones though - they will already be wearing flats! I'd say we got 50% in sizes 7 and 8, and the other 50% in 5, 6, 9, 10, 11.

Since I had mostly the "older crowd," few people took flip flops.  The Chinese cotton Mary Janes I got (for $1.50 each) were far more popular.

We had 40 pairs for 150 guests and there were like 5 - 7 pairs left at the end.... HTH!

We bought 30 pairs for 150 guests. I got an assortment of sizes from 5-11 but got a lot of 7-8's. HTH!

If you have a Gap and/or Banana Republic card they are having a 30% off sale starting October 30th (or 31st). I am planning to buy around 40 and I will probably have around 50 women.  A lot of our female guests are young so I figure they will all be gone and even if people don't use them that night, they can just take them as a favor.

I have a bunch of brown flip flops left over from our wedding. I'll sell them for $1 each pair.  Email lilsmk6@yahoo.com

We had about 150 guests and I did 50ish pairs. All of them except for about 5 were gone, and all of the ones that I had left were size 10 (which is fine, since I am a 10). I did mostly 7, 8, and 9, with about 5 pairs of 6's and maybe 7 or 8 pairs of 10's. They were very popular! HTH!

Oh, and if you plan it right, Old Navy does the $1 flip flop sale over Memorial Day weekend. The limit is 5 pairs, so get there early and bring a bunch of people. I got about half of mine that way.

Do you know if the $1 sale is only in the stores or is it online too?

I bought my flip flops (all white) at seagillintl.com, a website where you buy in bulk. The smallest order comes in 72, but I split  the order with another bride so we each got 36 pairs in small, medium and large. I got all white flip flops and will decorate with different ribbon colors. For 72 pairs, I paid $69.56 total including shipping, so each pair costed about 98cents!
