Jewelry Question

Just curious, do you ladies mix yellow gold and white gold/platinum?  My e-ring is platinum, but I have a gold necklace from my grandmother that has sentimental value that I like to wear all the time.  Also, my aunt gave me a ring with white, yellow and rose gold interlocked rings.  I always thought it was tacky to mix silver and gold, but I hate to not wear some of the nice jewelry I already have.

Hi! :) Can't wait to see pics of your e-ring! My e-ring is platinum. I am a big gold lover, and definitely still wear ar my gold pieces.

I always thought this too BUT I have heard your e-ring and wedding band are the exception. fwiw, mis-matched things like this bug the crapppp out of me but I wouldn't think twice if it was your e-ring that was 'out of place' so to speak

agree w meghan- rings are exception. I have platinum rings, but still wear my gold earrings sometimes...esp. in the summer time.

I don't think diamonds judge WHAT color they are next to. ;) I only wear yellow gold (i'm allergic to anything but), but love the look of mixing the two tones.

I'm pretty OCD about it, like even with belt buckles and stuff, but glad to hear the wedding rings are an exception!

I don't think it's a problem. My e-ring is platinum, my band is white gold. For the wedding, my necklace is glass ivory pearls with a gold toned flower and pearl earrings. If you want to wear jewelry that has sentimental value, go for it!

I think it is totally acceptable. If you want to get used to mixing it up start with wearing the multi-colored interlocking rings and work your way up to all yellow gold pieces. Personally some of my favorite jewelry I own is yellow gold and white gold/sterling pieces. You can do it :)

Ehh, I think mixing metallics is ok.  I'm not going to let the color of my e-ring and wedding band dictate what jewelry I wear for the rest of my life.  And, I know people say this about everything, but I really doubt anyone will notice this except you.  Go for it, lady.

Courtney- It should be done this weekend!  I ended up getting something simple though

It will look fine.  I think if its mixed the right way, and you have a piece like the ring to tie it together, you're all set.  Even if you don't, no bigs.  I just wouldn't recommend wearing an all gold necklace with all silver earrings.  Your e-ring and wedding bank definitely do not have to match :)

I used to be crazy about this, but my ering/wedding band are platinum and I still wear my gold. There's kind of no way around that :) Also, FI gave me a white gold & diamond ring for a right hand ring at the wedding - I wore it with my gold bracelet and it looks fine in the pics. The fact that it had champagne diamonds helped but regardless I think special rings like that are an exception

I bought a two tone watch for this very reason--I didn't want to commit to just one! I always hated mixing metals, but I think I got over it when I got my first cape cod bracelet. I still wouldn't wear a gold necklace with a silver bracelet, but my e-ring is white gold and I would have no problem wearing yellow gold everywhere else!

I'm pretty OCD about it, like even with belt buckles and stuff...Um, if the metal on my purse does not match my belt buckle or shoe trim I pretty much freak out. I am a psycho.

Ha Meaghan, I need everything to match and be symmetrical.  Not to give TMI, but my underwear need to at least coordinate with my outfit. FI thinks I'm nuts.

I used to wear only yellow gold and then tranisitioned into a mix of white gold and yellow gold thanks to Mr. David Yurman.  I wear a mix bracelet and watch and then do what I want with my earrings and necklace.

I don't mind it. My mom on the other hand thinks it's a big no-no.

It's totally fine to mix & match.  I think it only looks tacky like when people wear really BIG (and I mean chunky)/thick metal jewelry that is different styles or really bright...usually that's tacky on it's own.  ;)  It's not a faux pas to wear a gold necklace at your wedding even though your ring is platinum.  Go for it!

I'm pretty OCD about it, like even with belt buckles and stuff...I cared about that when I was 14, but not so much anymore!  My e-ring and wedding band are the only platinum jewelry I own, so I'd be pretty screwed if I limited myself to platinum.  The bag I've been carrying has gold hardware, but I wear silver almost exclusively.  Not a huge deal to me, but maybe some people think I look funny?

Ha, Lucy, I'm not judging!  It's just a thing with myself. I actually really love gold jewelry, I'm just not a fan of gold e-rings for whatever reason.
