So I have run into a bit of a snag in my plan to use my epics for stds and guest book..I didn't really talk to my photog about the rights to the images (I know, call me dumb - I have already beat myself up about it!!) FI and I really wanted to use these pics but our options right now are to buy the rights to one pic for $89, buy the rights to all for $650 or wait until our 1yr anniversary for the rights to be 'gifted' to us by our photog..None of which are working for me..I am stuck - need some suggestions - what would you do in this situation? Suck it up and drop the dough you don't have or skip the photos for std and guest book?

    Wow - that's a tough situation. Personally (and I'm sure many will disagree) I would wait until next year. You can totally do a great guest book with pictures of you and FI throughout your relationship. For your save the date - get dressed up one day and grab a friend to take a few nice photos of you guys or find a picture that you love. At the most I'd buy the rights to one pic for $89 - I think $650 is too much to spend if you can get them gifted to you in a year.

    That stinks! I would buy the rights to one picture for my STD's and for-go the guest book ones. I'm sure you could use pics from you both growing up and/or ones from your relationship over the years. GL! :)

    I'd wait until next year and maybe use one as a christmas card. I agree with whoever said just get a friend to take a good picture of you two and use that. For the guest book can you get pictures of people in your families weddings (like old black and white pictures) or maybe pictures of whose coming with you guys (group picture of college friends on spring break, cousins at a holiday when you were a kid)?Then there's always my personal favorite solution and complain to the photographer until he'll drop the price or give you a discount somewhere else.

    $650 is a lot for the rights to the epics. I'd wait a year and have it be gifted to you by the photographer.  I'd just use something else for the STDs.  I wouldn't cave! :P
