Charlie Card???

Hi Ladies!

We are coming out to Boston for our honeymoon in a bit less then a month! I have read and heard a few things about a Charlie Card, but have NO idea what it is, if we can even get one, if its worth it etc.  If you guys don't mind can you give me  a bit of inside on this?

It's a plastic card that you can add money to and use on the subway or T. You can buy them from MBTA.com with value added. If you're going to be here for a couple of days, you can add money to it and go all over the city. You'll save about 30 cents a ride using the Charlie card versus the paper tickets, so if you're going to do a lot of sight-seeing the city, that can definitely add up.

Thanks so much.  That makes alot of sense.  Is it just for the subway or T? Or is it useful to have for like dinning or anything else?

It's just for the subway (a.k.a. The T).

ETA: There is a discount book you can print out from the T's website and you can get some good deals.

I would also recommend checking out the Go Boston card.

This gets you discounts on local area attractions. The best part is you can go the website and customize a card based on your interests.

Just to add - if you don't manage to pre-order the Charlie Card, you can get them at any T station.  Just go to the station's information desk or look for someone in a blue uniform with a T on a patch on their shoulder.

Enjoy Boston!  It is LOVELY in the fall!  Definitely google upcoming events, it seems like every weekend through the end of October there is some sort of street fair or outdoor event.

If your goin to be in Boston for about a week I would recommend getting a weekly pass it's $15 for unlimited rides on the buses and trains. And it will be cheaper than just chargin up ur card every few rides
