Really Sears??!!

I got a quilt at my work shower last week. It is cute, but not really our style and not the right size for the bed we will be upgrading to after the wedding. The person who gave it did not provide a gift receipt and when I asked her friend if she thought she would give it to me, she said that I really shouldn't ask her because she is VERY easily offended. SO I went into Sears and asked to exchange it. The woman told me in a very rude tone "no receipt, no return" I explained that it was from my shower and I did not get a gift receipt and simply wanted to exchange it. She then told me that I should have asked the gift giver for the receipt. When I said I wasn't comfortable doing that (all the while being very polite) she told me, and I quote, "that's your problem" WTF?!?!  Seriously. I should have asked for a manager but I was so furious that I had to just walk out of the store. I will never step foot in there again!

Wow, that is horrible customer service!  I would (if I were you) try it again with someone else, and see if someone else would be more helpful.  We registered at Sears (mostly for tools for FI) and I have always had a good experience there.  But if you remember her name I would mention it to the manager, she shouldn't have spoken to you like that.

Was this the Sears in Saugus? If so, I have to say that I'm NOT surprised...
I'm sorry that you had to go through that... give me the quilt and I'll be SURE to get you a brand new one and probably a $100 gift certificate to go with it.

I've had my fair share of RUDE RUDE RUDE customer service experiences and as an expert of receiving it... I know EXACTLY how to give it back to them.
I understand that you were furious and just wanted to get the H out of there... BUT that is the BEST opportunity at which you should (as you mentioned) to ask for the manager...

Take it to another Sears and hopefully you will receive superior customer service there!
    GOOD LUCK!

Wow what b*tch! As a former slave driven retail worker (Victoria's Secret, Pier 1). I would never do that! At VS we returned stuff that was ancient and gross! hahaha Um I would call the store or go to another and then if you get that again, ask to speak to the manager. You should be able to return it and get something cool like grill tools or some cool power tool for your FI <:

That's funny, I used to work for Sears (in intimate apparel, no less) and they used to make us accept returns on EVERYTHING.  We used to get back years old grey bras and have to accept them with a smile.  I guess things have changed...

If worst comes to worst, you could always hang onto the quilt and use it for guests.
