Recessional Music... HELP!

Hey Everyone!!! I need some recessional suggestions, I've been looking and I've seen all the regular suggestions... but my fiance is SO PICKY! I guess with good reason... we're only doing this once right!??! So I'll let you know a few that I've found and loved myself... but that he has not been so hot for, so maybe they could help you out if you are in the same pickle I'm in, and maybe you could leave me a few ideas that you have!

-Today is a Fairytale, Taylor Swift
-Signed, Sealed, Delivered, Stevie Wonder
-Ain't No Mountain High Enough (right now our top contendor)
-When I'm 64, The Beatles
-Never Let You Go (from The Parent Trap Sountrack)
-Stuck Like Glue, Sugarland
-Lost in this Moment, Big and Rich
-This Will Be (an everlasting love)
-Beautiful Day, U2
-All You Need is Love, The Beatles

So any other non-traditional music ideas you have would really help! I want something super fun, to get the party started!!! We love country, rock, top 40, oldies but goodies etc!!! I hope that some of my suggestions help you too!!

Re: Recessional Music... HELP!

  • Our pianist did an instrumental of Coldplay's "Viva la Vida."
    panther
  • We used Good Day Sunshine by The Beatles
    Anniversary
  • I'm partial to "Today was a fairytale" as that is the song we're using...but my fiance is all for it since it's kinda been "our song" since our first date, we had said it described it perfectly and it stuck so that is what we are doing :)
  • We're using Vitamin String Quartet's "Clocks"
    Vacation White Knot
  • Oooh....I love "Ain't No Mountain High Enough"

"God Only Knows" - Beach Boys
"Stand By Me" - Ben E King (This is what I walked into : ))
"How Sweet It Is To Be Loved By You" - Marvin Gaye
"Wonderful World" - Sam Cooke (We walked back down to this : ))
"You're My Best Friend" - Queen
  • Thanks for all your responses ladies! I came up with another one, that hasn't been shot down yet... (bc he hasn't listened to it... haha)

    -I'm a believer, Smashmouth

Or let me know your thoughts on this... "Rain is a Good Thing" yes I know sounds totally weird... but it's a song that we both belt out singing in the car when it comes on... it started as a joke bc my FI's family farm corn... but now we both just love it... I had joked about it being our recessional..... appropriate on a sunny day? or just if it happens to rain on our wedding day?

  • Oh wow. I didn't even think of recessional music! LOL. THANK YOU for this post!!

Are you going to use instrumentals or with the actual lyrics?
  • edited January 2012
For everything except recessional I'm going to do instrumental only. But walking out I want it to be booming and really fun so I'm going to go with the lyrics on whatever song we choose... Still undecided... My last suggestion was again a no! But I can't complain... He is spending his Sunday watching football while he designs our invitations (for the second time haha) so any suggestions tou have would be great!!

  • We're going to play the "level clear" music from Super Mario Bros after we kiss, and probably walk out to the music from the game. We're kind of geeky though. :)
