Thank you for reminding me to add that!

I just don't want line dances, particularly the electric slide. I frickin hate that song.  Also there's some new song on the radio that makes me want to punch someone.  something about fireflies.  And FI doesn't like SexyBack.

    Must play:
    Like a Virgin
I Want You Back by the Jackson 5
    American Girl
Don't Stop Believin (wayyyyy overplayed, but gets everyone on the dance floor)
    Sweet Caroline
    Billy Jean
    My Prerogative
Lots of Britney, a little Miley

I have a sister named Eileen, and she tends to be the center of attention a lot, so the only song I've "banned" so far is "Come on Eileen" haha...but knowing how things usually go I'll probably feel bad and let her hear it.

Otherwise, all I know is I want to hear lots of Lady Gaga. This has been communicated to my FBIL, our DJ.

Please don't play Goldigger. There is nothing more awkward when I am working a wedding than seeing a bunch of drunk people yelling "we want prenup!" while dancing in a circle around the bride and groom. "I Will Survive" is a bit awkward too.

Besides plenty of others you girls already mentioned above, Bob Seger "Old Time Rock and Roll" and "Louie Louie" were randomly huge hits at our wedding. Since we did another song for our first dance, Van Morrison's "Into the Mystic" had to be played at some point. Sweet Caroline and Don't Stop Believing were the last two songs they played.

Do not play: Brian Adams, Celine Dion and whiny music in general
Do play: lots of 80s, Lady Gaga (even if my husbond hate her), killers

Just as an added note, we had the Chicken dance at our wedding... I don't like line & otherwise stupid dances as well, but that was a funny thing since a couple of years ago my husband actually learned the words of the song in Italian (I am Italian, but he does not speak it at all!). At the end, dancing like idiots all together in circles was fun!

fwiw- my 8-15 year old neices and nephews BEGGED me to play Cotton Eyed Joe, so I told the DJ it was ok even though it was on our do not play list. It honestly ended up being a huge hit and not as lame as you would think.

or every one was just really drunk ;)

    Meagh - Great ideas!

Although I love Carrie Underwood, Before He Cheats is probably not appropriate either haha.

Or it could make for an awesome first dance!

so, a big joke with everyone that knows me is how much I love Party in the U.S.A.  I mean, I play it everywhere it's like my anthem for everything (I make my guy friends dance to it everytime we have a party, they hate me a little).  Anyways, of course played it at the wedding and seriously it was a HUGE hit and turned out to be one of my fav pics of the night!

Also, a must play is Bon Jovi! I felt like it brought everyone out on the dance floor.  That was our ending song because of my Mom's love for JBJ we did the last song and it was awesome :)

Huge hits at ours were Living on a Prayer, Shout, Paradise By the Dashboard Light, Pokerface, and we had a lot of old Hollywood/big band/jazz during dinner for slow songs and people danced between and during courses. It was really cool! Dinner took a bit longer, but it was very relaxed and everyone had a great time.
