interesting reception venues for cheap on the south shore!

Hello! 

We're getting married in February and are looking for a really cheap wedding venue. So far, I've been looking at Cushing Center in Norwell, and the Bancroft hall in Cohasset. We'd like to bring in our own food, since we have friends who have said theyd help us out with that. 

I looked at Old Derby and they dont allow heating of food, so that's out. 

Anyone have any ideas?

How cheap do you mean by "really cheap"? You gotta be a little more specific... And for how many people?

I am having mine in March at the Daniel Webster Estate.  Depending on the type of reception you are having depends on the amount of guests.

I'm interested to see what kind of response you get because when the time comes around for my wedding (in a few years) we'll be looking for inexpensive venues around the South Shore as well. It might be out of the way but have you looked into the Canoe Club Ballroom in West Bridgewater?

You can rent the Squantum Yacht Club on Wollaston Beach in Quincy for inexpensive and bring your own food in.  The capacity is about 130.  That's where we're doing our reception.

Our wedding will be at the Baraker is Scituate, though it wasn't the most inexpensive one we looked at it was the most black and white as far as costs went.  Becky whose incharge there has been amazing, we're really looking forward to our big day!

Not sure if this is right for you but I am planning a wedding at Brookmeadow country club in Canton.  So far Ginger the coordintor seems fabulous! and they do a package deal for $99/person (includes food, DJ, reception flowers and photographer)
