Petite dresses?

Hi Everyone,

I just found a dress I love, but it is not petite - I am 5'2". this was at Alfred Angelo. Do I need to get a petite dress?! I don't think it comes in petite. I noticed that the dresses in  petite on David's Bridal cost way more than misses! Anyone have any advice? Thank you!

One of my month board friends is the same size as you and she actually ended up buying the regular size from DB and just had the bottom hemmed. The petite looked weird on her and didn't sit right. If the dress comes in regular and petite try on both. As long as the bottom isn't super complicated with beading or lace, it should be pretty easy to hem.

ETA: I'm the same height, but I had my dress custom measured because it was a lace dress.
  • A lot of times the petite legnths are just the regular dresses with a few inches cut off. You might have to get a petite dress hemmed as it may still be to long. As long as it fits on top and the bottom is hemmable you should be OK.

I'm 5'2 and I had my lace (regular) Maggie Sottero hemmed.
  • Thanks for the answers! I was concerned that the proportions of a misses dresss would be off. I usually wear petite dresses, sweaters and blazers b/c the fit is better
