colors?

I am having a fall wedding (10/7/12) and wanted the colors to be an eggplant or plum and orange. Problem is, I can't find a dress that I like that comes in the right shade of purple. It's either so dark-blackish purple or raspberry/sangria in color. Would those shades-sangria and orange go together do you think?

What color is the orange? Is it a pumpkin orange? Or a deeper orange? I think a deeper orange and sangria would go great! Like the fall leaves :)

the orange is more pumpkinny as I'm incorporating a bunch of pumpkins and my bouquet will have mango colored calla lillies. I like burnt orange but with the pumpkins it will be more of that shade of orange with sangria/grape. I'm still on the fence though-feel like eggplant would go better with orange.
  • We have twin weddings...I'm also doing a fall-colored wedding with pumpkins and orange callas, but I don't want to put my girls in orange dresses.  I Photoshopped some images together with sangria dresses, but it looked weird to me.  I'd love a burgundy color, but can't find a dress my girls like and can afford in that color.  I'm leaning toward a dark bluish-purple.  Pops nicely against the orange flowers and pumpkins, and will look attractive on all of the bridesmaids.
If you have Photoshop or some other imaging program, just make some images with your colors and try the two different dress colors in the picture.  You can also create an Inspiration board here on the Knot, where you can put put photos of your various elements side by side and see how they look together.  Ultimately, just trust your eyes and pick what appeals to you most.
