Engagement Photos Cost

Hi All,

Fiance and I are at that stage were we're ready to have our engagement photo's done. My cousin just graduated from photography school and is absolutely amazing (she's also going to be in my wedding as a BM). She's going to take our engagement photo's and we were wondering how much others paid for their engagement photo's so we can pay her accordingly. She hasn't told us, she is just excited to build her portfolio but we'd like to be fair. Please let us know!!!

Thanks so much.

When we did ours, we also used a friend just starting out. She decided to charge us $100 for the sitting fee and then $20 for each 8x10 we wanted and $10 for each 5x7. It only ended up costing us $175 which I know is low but it was her way of getting her portfolio started.

We paid $150/hour for the service and then any prints were extra.

We paid $300 to our photographer for a session that was about 1.5 - 2 hrs.  She gave us the best photos (about 50) on a disk with permission to use them.

My photographer charges $100 as an add on to a wedding package, but I think it is only $150 without. Thats for the photo shoot and a CD with images and rights, but no prints. She is Cape based, not Boston, if that makes a difference.

We asked our photographer when we were negotiating our price, and she added it in for no additional charge.  But when I was researching photographers, I think $300 was the going rate for a e-pic session.

We paid $250 which included 3 hours and all our retouched photos included on a DVD

Thank you all for responding!!! I really appreciate it. I think about $175 is reasonable to pay my cousin..... Where did you have yours taken?

    Thanks again.

$300 is the price of an e-session if you order it separately from my photographer. Its free with the purchase of an album. Her engagement sessions dont have a time limit. She takes pictures till its too dark or someone has somewhere to go. Her suggestions for places to take pics were fenway and the north end. Hope it helps
