Wedding Cake with Tier Separators

Hey Ladies,

So we were wondering what your thoughts were on having the more traditional looking wedding cake with tier separators. Is it too out of date or is it entirely our choice? I bought a teir seperator and cake topper with the theme of Cinderella's Castle before i proposed to her in the castle. Sot the tiers and decorations enhance the theme of Dreams Do Come True which is engraved on her E-Ring. Wondering your thoughts on the 3 tier separated cake style? Please let us know and be honest. I think its up to the both of you.

Personally, its not my style at all but if you both love it then why not, go with it. As long as the cake tastes awesome, it really doesn't matter if there are tier separators or not!

I don't like to be a slave to trends, but I think bridges and separators are very outdated.  However in your case, the separators would be more than functional, they would help you build upon a theme.  So I think you get a pass.  If your guests give you a side eye, you can just remind them about the theme. 

Just curious - what does your fiancee think??

Separated tiers aren't really my style,as I do think they are a bit outdated but I think it really is up to you.  You have a certain theme in mind, and as long as it reflects that I think it will be perfectly fine.  I have seen some incredible multitiered castle cakes.  As my uncle told me when I was talking about my black fondant covered wedding cake...."its your day and your cake.....who cares if people like the way it looks".

dont get caught up in all of the trends and whats hot and whats not... if its something you both love then go for it! i like the idea myself... if other people were jumping off bridges would you join them?

i just think some people get caught up in the hype and have to have what everybody else is doing... my sister is the next wedding for us to plan... she got engaged 2 weeks ago... im hoping this is an easy task!

I think it's so sweet of you to think of that detail and pick up the separators.  If that is something special to the both of you, I would say don't hesitate and go ahead and use them!  You'll think back on your cake with memories of love and thoughtfulness of the whole presentation.

I personally don't usually like cake separators, but I did just make a wedding cake with separators and I thought it came out awesome (personal bias? probably, haha) but I added flowers to the space between the separators and I thought it added a lot.  It all depends on the finished product and what YOU guys think

Supergroom, you rock!  Love that you proposed in the castle.

I actually like the separated tiers when the area between is filled with flowers like roses.  So pretty! 

However, for you guys, even without flowers I think it sounds great since it fits your theme of a traditional, cinderella style wedding.  Besides, as long as you guys like it, who cares what anyone else thinks.

I want to save money on the cake so we're going with a small one to cut and a sheet cake in the back to serve - maybe adding a tier with flowers on it would help make it bigger?

I did a two tier cake with separators for my wedding and I loved it!

I didn't know that it was considered outdated or anything like that and I don't think that I got any side eyes from my guests. Plus, you and your fiancee should do what you want to do anyway!

I think,t hat even if it was outdated (?), it's still more than okay to do it because you have a specific (so sweet!) theme in mind.

Not my style, but it definitely could be done tastefully!  I say do what you want.  Also, as a guest I would rather have a yummy cake than a pretty cake.

I would also be interested to hear your fiancee's opinion on this.
