(slightly long) Milford (Central) MA Wedding - Recommend Your Vendors Pretty Please?

Hi Ladies -

I am a few and far between poster thus far on this board - long engagement but finally starting to plan things, make appointments, etc.

We've booked the hall - Portuguese Club in Milford - and we're going to meet with some caterers next weekend.  I was wondering if anyone had ever dealt with either Europa or Alcoa - they are Portuguese caterers who do a lot of events at that venue.

We're also looking for a Portuguese DJ (FI's family don't all speak English so we need someone bilingual), a day-of coordinator, and a photog. 

We have met with Morin Studios in Milford, and I loved them, but they make you wait three years for digital copyrights to photos ,and I am a little nervous about something happening to them in the meantime.  Their studio was amazing and they have rooms set up with a fireplace and staircase in case it's raining outside the day of the event (huge selling point as the venue doesn't have great photo options indoors).  Has anyone worked with them by any chance? Any feedback?

Finally, if anyone has any recommendations for great hair/makeup artists in this area.

I think it is odd that Morin's would hold your rights, so you have a right to be concerned. I know for a fact that my photographer that we used has done 2 weddings at your venue.  Her name is Jodi from Enchanted Moments Photography in Medway.  Here is a link to our photos so you can take a peak...

Gorgeous pics!  Were your outdoor shots at the pond in Hopedale?  You were a very beautiful bride!!!  I am definitely going to give her a call.  Did you get the digital rights immediately?

Thank you that's sweet of you to say!  I'm pregnant now, so compliments like that make me smile.  The pics were taken at a park in Worcester across from the church we got married at.  We were able to purchase the digital files from her, which was great!

I know of several people who have used Morin Studios. Although one might be a little biased since it is her now mother in law's studio! Overall I thought the quality of pictures was good. It is a bit strange though that they keep them for that long. HTH!

Hopefully I can be of some help.  I am from New Bedford which has a huge Portuguese community.  I recommend Chris Saraiva from Sound Xplosion www.soundxplosion.com.  I met him at a photag open house.  He is great, speaks Portuguese, has all new bose equipment and has great prices.  A friend of mine is using him for her wedding and she enjoyed meeting him.  He is very accommodating.  He also has great rates for upligting, too.  Chris works closely with Lumina Images.  I believe she is portugues as well and used to be the second shoot for Jenn Leatherwood who is a popular photag.  www.luminaimages.com


As for a DOC I recommend Andria Medeiros from Infinite Events.  She does not speak Portuguese but her family is Portuguese and she knows the Portuguese culture.  I know because I am Portuguese and we discussed my guest list. lol Our families tend to be huge.   Good luck planning  www.infinite-events.net

NO NO NO morins suck, trust me. a coworker did not pick her photos quick enough and they charged her 20.00 dollars a day she went over their time limit to pick photos, kind of like a video store charging you for being late on a rental. It was awful. Her husband had been deployed and she wanted to wait until he could go through the photos with her, but, they did'nt care. I really cannot say enough how awful i think they treated her. who has a time limit on how long you can keep your proof book, something like that should not be rushed. Check out Jim Abrahms at shooting star photography, he is in franklin. I was going to use him but he is booked for my date.

oh also i just re-read your post, I am using I DO for my hair and makeup. Our photographer is out of Concord, but he'll travel anywhere within 2 hours of Boston for free.  His name is Scott Metzger, and you can see the slideshow he made for us (link in siggy) and our album proof (link in bio under Vendor Reviews along with my review for him).  He sent us the DVD of images with our album (got that back 5 months after the wedding and it only took that long because we procrastinated on picking out pics), and he actually sent me a high-res image for us to use for our thank you notes right after we saw all of the pics (about 1 week after the wedding).  You should definitely check him out.  My SIL just used him for her wedding in November and her pics were phenomenal as well.  

For hair, we used Gina Joubert and she's out of Shrewsbury.  You can see my trial and day of pics in my bio, and there's also a review for her in there too.
