Guest List Issue! Help!

Hi,  So we had a site walk through last week and we thought the room could hold about 200, but it can only hold 180.  We have 200 on our invited guest list and from what I've read, you should expect 80% of people to say yes, so that's about 160 people.  We are about to send out our Save the Dates and I'm starting to panic because I'm worried that all 200 people are going to RSVP yes and we won't be able to fit everyone in the room.  Now, I know that this will probably not happen, but it's still making me nervous.  Do you think we should cut our guest list to 180?  Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

There's no guarantee that anyone will RSVP "no". You should only invite as many people as the room can hold.

Ditto pp.  I've heard of a couple people who said they had everyone come to their wedding that was invited.

Thanks everyone!  That's what we were leaning towards as well.  I know the chance of having 100% RSVP of yes is highly improbable, but it would be disasterous if we couldn't fit everyone in the room and someone had to have a table in the foyer!  We're in the process of cutting down the guest list to 180 as we speak.  I really appreciate the help!

If people start declining the invites then you could always go to the 'B' list for last minute.

Is there a larger room at your venue? If so, you could switch to that, or ask if you can decide as your receive RSVPs. Otherwise, I would cut the guest list and create a B-list. Just be careful that people who receive the first round of invites aren't people who are going to talk to the guests who wouldn't receive one right away.
