is it a scam?

Hi, i cant find a way on here to search the question, so forgive me if i am reposting a similar question.

I received a call from a woman from Northeast Brides claiming that i won a drawing for a free 3 night vacation or something like that. She said she got my name from a bridal show. I have to go to a Marriott hotel in Stoughton to receive the prize and stay for a 90 minute, im assuming a presentation on some cookware and cutlery.

Has anyone else gotten this offer? and if so was it a scam or legit?

yea they are a scam, I think they try and get you to buy into timeshares or something like that - I got a ton of these calls after a bridal show....also one claimng I won a honeymoon but they are not what they seem.......a lot of ppl get them and the ladies on this board told em they were scams :)
its annoying because its very exciting to get the call :(

That's annoying....  I got a similar but, in my opinion, less conditional call.

I was told I won a free makeover party for myself and 6 friends, but girls on here told me it was actually a Mary Kay party.  There are worse things... i guess just remember the old saying  "if it's too good to be true..."

i would have disregarded it right away had she not told me she got my name from a bridal expo.

Yeah, a lot of vendors get your name from bridal expo, I did not give out my real information at the ones I went to.

Yes, I got that same message.

The woman seemed SO NICE though, didn't she!?!   She left me a voicemail, and mistakenly called her back... I hadn't gone to a bridal show or expo or anything, so I am still clueless as to how she got my information.

needless to say, I'm still here and no fantastic free vacation for me.

I hear that they want you to buy cookware.  If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

I just got the exact same call. Its definitely a scam. I asked the lady specifically what vendor she got my information from and she couldn't tell me directly. A free vacation would be nice but this one isn't free!

Yes, it is definitely too good to be true. I got one of those calls too and was sooo excited about a free trip! But FI is a born cynic and found a huge series of notices online saying that although they are a "legitimate" business, it is basically a way to sucker you into a room and force you buy stuff. I was super disappointed with how many sales calls I received after the bridal expo I went to. Its been over a month and I am STILL getting emails and phone calls. After the first 2 I answered, I just screen them.
