Transportation for Guests

I got a quote from Local Motion for a bus to cart everyone from the hotel to the venue and back again. ONE bus, round trip. A school bus was the cheapest option at $490! We're not sure how many guests will use this but we want room for at least 30. The driving time between the two locations is about 20-25 mins.

Am I wrong to think this is a bit steep or is this just another one of those "OMG, how much?" wedding moments?

I was in the same boat as you.

Try McGinn Bus Company out of Lynn. We reserved 2 - 47 passenger coaches for only $545 each. And gratuity can be added in for you, only 10%! And our wedding is in Spencer, MA and this included costs to travel.  Arriving at hotel in Sturbrudge for 4:30, and they will bring back guests at close of reception at 10:30 and again at 11.

Not bad....and they were very helpful and nice to work with. I believe his name is John (don't have my binder with me at work). Oh and bonus - no deposit required to reserve busses!

I dont know if this is your cup of tea, but I went to a wedding once where they had yellow school buses.  It was really fun and made for great photo ops.

I heard they were super cheap too.  Like $50-100 or so.

That stinks--I work at a school, and I think Local Motion is  cheaper than that for field trips for a whole day.  However, they do have a reputation for being the most expensive for renting school buses. Try Eastern Bus Company at  (617) 628-6869 .  They give us the cheapest quotes for school trips.

On a different note, I got a school bus for my wedding in July in northeastern PA.  People were sooooo happy we did.  I think we ended up paying around $350 for a bus with tip included; it made extra runs so I think at the end of the night after a few drinks I gave him $50 more.  We got a cheaper rate because I also booked a limo bus and a limo with them so perhaps if you are getting limos the limo company can recommend someone or maybe they have a partnership already.
    Good luck!
