When to send out invitations?

Hello All -
For my July 16th wedding, when should I send out the invitation? Thanks!

I think 2 months before is standard.

I did 6 weeks before the RSVP date, not the wedding date, so it really depends on when you need you RSVP's back.

Typically invitations are mailed 6-8 weeks in advance, the latter if you have lots of OOT guests. If you did a STD, you could wait to mail at 6 weeks.

We mailed ours 8 weeks out b/c we got married on a long weekend and also on a holiday. Make sure you give yourself enough time for follow-up calls (we had lots that didn't use their RSVP card!) and also time to get your final count in for your reception...GL!

In my case... the wedding was June 5th.

RSVP due date was May 3rd. Numbers were due to the venue by May 15th (Be sure to leave some time in there to call people because inevitably someone will have illegible handwriting or they won't send back the RSVP card and double check your contract as to when your venue needs your final numbers).

Invites to overseas guest sent out second to last week of March. Invites to US guests sent out last week of March.

We sent them out 10 weeks in advance with an RSVP date 6 weeks in advance, but only because I wanted to get all the RSVPs squared away before Christmas chaos. And I didn't want invites or RSVPs to get lost in all the holiday mail.

Your best bet is to determine when you need to have final numbers in to your venue and go out about 2-3 weeks for the RSVP, and about 4 weeks from that date to send the invites out.
