Autumn Chix @ Topsfield Commons

Hi Everyone,
We planned our wedding in less than 6 months so we missed the tasting at The Commons.  If you were married there, please share which entrees/hor dourvres you went with and your thoughts.

Thanks!!

For the salad we had the Tuscan caesar.  It was delicious and the presentation is unique.  It's served in a big parmesan crisp.  The October Salad was amazing!  It would have been my pick, but my husband considers a salad to consist of purely lettuce and croutons so that was out for us!

For a starch we went with the red potatoes with chive drizzle because we thought it would make everyone happy.  I remember all of the starches being good at the tasting. We went with asparagus for the veg.

    Our entrees were
Stuffed eggplant and mushroom ragout for the veg.  Everyone raved about it- I never tried it
chicken- autumn chicken breast.  This was delicous!  What I really liked, was they do not stuff the breast.  They make a little cake out of the cornbread and cranberry stuffing and serve the chicken on top.  The chicken was so juicy and cooked perfectly.  I think not having it "stuffed" really helped with the even cooking.  The stuffing was amazing.  My mouth is watering just thinking about it.
Beef- Roasted Tenderloin.  Also delicious!  You literally did not need a knife to cut it, and the sauce was amazing.

We didn't serve a seafood entree, but I've heard rave reviews about the stuffed sole.

The apps were all amazing.  People devoured them!

    mango and brie tartlet
    hunter style stuffed mushrooms
maple and soy glazed scallops wrapped in bacon
    thai peanut chicken satay
shaved pesto crusted tenderloin of beef on crostini

Apps we tried at the tasting that were also really good were the crabcakes and coconut shrimp.

Oh and just as a reference-  I got married in December, which is why I went for a more hearty menu.  I wanted a "warmer" menu if that makes sense?

lnarey - Thank you!! I am getting married in November so also going for "warmer" menu.  In fact, I asked them to add a grilled cheese and creamy tomato soup shooter appetizer!  So we are going with the Autumn Chix and we're between the Roasted Tenderloin and the Filet.  We are definitely going garlic mashed bc I love them.  And for hor douvres, still working on those selections.

If you have any other suggestions or overall thoughts on the Commons etc - I appreciate the advice!

all of this info is so helpful for me too b/c we just booked our wedding there...it's not until Sept '11, however, we will go to the tasting they have in either Sept or Oct...gotta get the date from them, but I have always heard GREAT things about their food and they have such an extravagant list of choices.  The Commons is absolutely BEAUTIFUL....I knew I wanted to have our wedding there and I was so happy they had our date available :-)
