Married ladies- albums

So I just got my first album preview and I don't really like it.  The pictures are not what I would have picked and I would have done the layout differently.

My question is...did you pick the pictures that went in your album first, or did they send you a draft and then you had to make changes?  I can change the pictures if I want, but it seems like a waste of time since I would change almost all of them to get the ones I really want.

For my e-pic album, my photog asked for a list of our favorites first.  But she did ask for a short list, like just our 10 favorites and then she'd base the rest off that.  We were pretty happy with her layout and we only ended up adding a few photos to get it just the way we wanted it.

If you don't like your album, tell your photog.  If you want to change them all, just tell them.  It is your album and you are paying a lot of money for it.  So I'd just send them a list of the ones you want included with as much instruction as you can!

    Good luck!

Well, my wedding was over a year ago and I still don't have my album.  I actually just emailed my photogs this morning!

They made us a rough draft and then we went back and forth making changes.  I think we finally did the last few changes today!

we picked the photos to be used in our album --- our photographer did the layout based on them and then we met with her to work on moving them around to how we wanted it

I agree with pp, it's your wedding album - it should be the photos and layout that you want - I wouldn't worry about speaking up, especially if you are paying for it in addition to her wedding day services (as some do)...GL!

I actually got the digital negatives in lieu of an album - so I could design it myself. Does your photog give that option?

Yeah I get the negative too, but the album is included in my package.  I almost would rather design it myself...hmmm

The photog we worked with lets us choose which photos go in and then they do the artistic stuff... layouts, editing, etc.

I would email her the pictures you like and the layout, maybe then she will have a better idea of what you want and send you back something perfect. It might be hard for her to know what you like without feedback.

Those albums are pricey, so you should definitely get your moneys worth!

I'd ask to pick the pictures yourself and maybe do another one or two on your own.  You could give them to your parents and you'd keep the one you liked better between yours or your photographer's.

For our album, we picked all of the pictures first and then our photographer sent us a proof to look at.  We ended up only changing one or two things.  I think it's kind of weird that you didn't get to pick which pics you wanted for your album beforehand.

Well, if you're getting one included, that's awesome - like the PPs said, see if she'll let you pick the pictures yourself. And then, if in the end you still don't like it - think of it this way - it would be an awesome gift to give to your parents (or his) and then you can design something exactly they way you want it (I'll help!) and have it printed up. We did our gift albums at Adoramapix and I was uber impressed by the quality - but when it came time to do ours, I just couldn't narrow down the photo choice - so I just got a black leather album and put prints in it :) Doesn't hang out on the coffee table or anything, but our house looks like wedding-a-palooza anyways...

Our photographer had us pick out the photos that we wanted in the album and then she designs the layout and which ones are b&w etc.

I would just send a list of the pictures that you want to your photog.  I'm sure they will welcome it.
