I got engaged in Oct. We set a date to get married for Nov. 2011. Our first big check was the venue because that can get booked up very quickly. Next we conquered the big things within a few months, by February, we had all of our big things accomplished. For example, photo/videographer, DJ, officiant, and rings. Since then, I've printed out a checklist, from the knot, and I divided tasks to do each months. So each weekend I focus on something. Hope that helps!

Dare to be different. It's very easy for weddings to feel cookie cutter. It's your wedding; make it your own!

These are great, but I'd love to hear some of your favorite locations in the HV area. Places for a bach party, brunch, lingerie etc.

    Thank you!

For a unique ceremony location I suggest getting married at Cunneen-Hackett Arts Center in the Theatre.  It's an old Victorian building built by some of the Vassar brothers in downtown Poughkeepsie.  Not only is the building amazing but it is also unique.  It holds a special place in my heart as I have been performing on that stage for almost 30 years, hence it being the venue for our wedding.

As far as something for a brunch....I HIGHLY recommend Chalet on the Hudson on Rt 9D in Cold Spring.  It's the old Breakneck Lodge.  The food is out of this world.  Cost is about $25pp but you get to choose an entree, have all you can eat salad buffet, shrimp cocktail where the shrimp aren't small & they ARE peeled, there is also a Belgian waffle station & omelet station.  Then to top it off is an amazing dessert bar with homemade truffles by Chef Steve.  Champagne & mimosas are also included.  Amazing food & value!!!!!  Plus a great view of the Hudson.

Hope this helps in some ideas!
