Ok to wear gold/champagne as guest to "black tie optional" wedding?

I purchased this dress for an upcoming "black tie optional" wedding because it was so classy and elegant looking, but now I am second-guessing myself! The color is listed as "gold" but from the pic it looks to be more of a champagne color. I don't want to create a fashion faux-pas, in case someone thinks it too closely resembles ivory.

Here is the link to the dress...what do you think? Should I keep it or look for a new dress? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Color looks perfectly fine to me. If you are concerned with it photographing too light you can pair it with darker accessories. However, black tie usually connotes a long dress. If I were you I would maybe ask some other guests if they are wearing a short or long dress, and also consider the venue and how formal it will be.

Great dress! I love one shoulder. 

ETA: I think the color is perfectly fine.  Its either gold or champagne and even if it shows more ivory in pics it is very obviously not a brides dress.

I saw this dress at lord and taylor yesterday and it is absolutely fine to wear! It is definitely more champagne than gold though!

Thanks so much for all the feedback, ladies! I ordered the dress online, but haven't received it yet. Soxchick-- I feel better that you actually saw the dress in person and you think that it's appropriate to wear. It's funny that you bring up the issue of the dress being short, Slowskys, because this was yet another debate I had about the dress! The wedding is in Chicago, and apparently out there, even the black tie events (optional or not) have a 50/50 mix of long vs. short (albeit very fancy/conservatively short) dresses. And it's typically the younger women who wear the short dresses, and older women who wear the gowns. It's so interesting to me how geography dictates etiquette.
