Has anyone found a good, clear guide to name changing?

I tried google and called the DMV and got mixed responses everywhere... what steps do you take?!

I broke down and got the missnowmrs package, they fill in all the forms for you, I don't know if its worth $39, but it was easy!  You have to do social security first, fill out the form, bring in the marriage license, plus proof of old name (I brought passport and drivers license, but you can bring one of those and birth cert).

They should send you a new card in 2 weeks, then you can take that to the DMV.

You don't really need to wait two weeks after changing your name with SS.  You just need to wait 24 hours to be updated in the computers before going to the DMV.

I went to the SS office first and brought the filled out application, a certified copy of my marriage certificate, my passport and driver's license.

I went to the RMV about two hours after SS office and it was already updated, so I applied for my new license that day.

I got my new SS card and license the other day (almost exactly 2 weeks after applying).

Now, I just have to do my credit cards/bank accounts... *sigh*
