How do you tell there are new replies?

Ok - call me dumb - but how do you tell there are new replies to a thread? Threads turn gray once I've looked at them, and stay gray - they used to turn back to black on the old board when a new reply was made. The only way I can tell right now if there is a new reply is reading the last poster info and trying to remember how many posts there were before (read - ineffective). Am I missing something?

Also, my page isn't loading by most recent post - even though I have it checked off - maybe a bug?

I also keep getting "error" pages - but I'm guessing because they are still working on this whole crossover, and those should *hopefully* go away when they are done...

I don't think there is another way.  Other boards are saying the same thing...I guess we have to look at the minutes and who posted last on a specifi thread...not good...

It's really not good. I'm seriously looking at posts thinking "did that have 16 or 17 a minute ago?"

    Pathetic. *Sigh*

omfg. I am realllly frustrated right now. I have made 3 posts in the last hour. I can't even talk to people in real time on here anymore.

This is what I've figured out so far...

When a thread is brand new it's black. Once you've read it it turns a light grey color. If there are new posts on a thread you've already read it turns a dark grey color. HTH a little!

Oh yeah JB... I didn't even notice, but now that you say it, the color's are different.  I keep getting "application error" and it's making me sad.

Hmmm - my monitor is set pretty dark, I guess it's not picking up the slight color change - but couldn't they just pick another color other than grey? Because that's just kind of silly... Make them blue or green for g*dsakes...

Meg - if you right click on "MASSACHUSETTS-BOSTON" up at the top of the thread, and open it in a new window, it opens in a new window without the player on it (still has links and ads though). It makes the threads load faster. Also - I totally ripped off your Miss/Mrs bio link thing... imitation is the sincerest form of flattery Wink

It's definitely really subtle.  I would NEVER have noticed.

Actually - I still can't see the color difference, it must be my monitor - which you think would be really great, given that I'm a graphic designer and color is integral to my job... TG for Pantone swatches... But I can't be the ONLY one who doesn't see the color difference, right?

OMG, thanks for the tip for right clicking and opening in a new window to get rid of the video on top! I keep pausing it, but it keeps coming back on!

I'm a thumbs down on the new format so far, takes forever to load and it's really slow :-(

This is going to take some time getting used to everything!! UGH

I think JB has it pretty much right - it's black and bold when it's brand new. After you read it, it turns grey and is no longer bold. The only difference is, I think if there's a new post after you've read it, it stays grey, but becomes bold again. HTH

Yeah - maybe it's a Safari issue, but they are all gray and bold - no color difference. Work on your cross-browser compatibility, knot! ;)

I have the most recent version of Internet Explorer and I don't have any gray/bold color changes. Just like you, Erilou. Other than that, I think its my only complaint so far...

yea I can't see the color difference either (I am using safari as well)

I would like it if they moved to the top when there is a new reply, although that would probably confuse me more in the end...

There is a way to move it to the top when there is a new reply - on the upper right hand corner of your screen, there is the option to sort by most recent post. If you uncheck that option, it will sort the posts by the most recent reply. I did that because I can't see the difference between the regular grey and bolded grey, and it works.

Of course, I assume that many people who have already looked at this post won't be able to see that I've responded, which is kind of funny.
