Hawthorne or Vinwood Catering?

We are getting married at the Peabody Essex Museum.  We're in the process of choosing a caterer.  Has anyone used Hawthorne or Vinwood and can share their experience?

One of my best friends at work used Vinwood...and could not say enough about them.  She said people were still talking about the food at her wedding 6 months later!  It was her one splurge...they are not cheap - but she said they were worth it.  They also let her do the consignment thing on alcohol that was not consumed...which saved her quite a bit on the bar tab. I would have gone with them if I had chosen a venue that needed a caterer.  :)

We were married at the hawthorne. Their food is fantastic. We did beef tenderloin with fingerling potatoes for one dish and roasted sea base with lobster risotto. Everyone raved about the food.... We were really picky about the quality because so many of our friends and family members are foodies and really really enjoy quality dishes. I cannot say enough about the food at our wedding- everyone loved it. We even went back to the hotel this weekend and ate there again- they never fail to impress.

Two of my friends used Vinwood and as a guest I personally loved the food! I'm pretty sure they both had good experiences overall working with them as well. I'm getting married at the Seaport where the caterer is through them, but I would have considered Vinwood if I needed a caterer.

We got married at the Peabody Essex Museum in October, and used the Hawthorne as our caterer.  They were absolutely fantastic, and I HIGHLY recommend them.  The food was amazing (I still receive compliments from my guests to this day) and the service was great.  I worked with Lindsay for my planning, and she was very helpful and attentive.  We had a sweetheart table and had Mike as our server, and he made sure I had plenty of champagne and kept our food warm for us while we were mingling with our guests.  Overall, they were fantastic and you should definitely use them.  Plus, they have the only liquor license for the PEM – so by using them for the food as well, it is one less vendor you would have to deal with!

We got married at the PEM in Sept. 08! Our experience from start to finish was wonderful. Natalia and Lindsay were attentive to every detail and the event unfolded flawlessly.
We used Hawthorne as our caterers and the food was delicious. They were especially helpful in adjusting to many of our guests with dietary restrictions and their waitstaff and bartenders were beyond courteous and helpful.
We couldn't have asked for anything more!

I had my wedding at the Hawthorne in November 2010 and I loved it. I had my reception in the restaurant - 2 rooms: Nathaniel's and Sofia's.  The food was great and everything was ran smoothly. My wedding coordinator, Lindsay, was awesome! She was always available if I had any questions or comments and was super sweet.  She was especially helpful after a problem with my wedding cake the day after the wedding. The top of my cake was left out all night after the reception and Lindsay did everything she could to help me. She guaranteed that I would receive a brand new cake on my one year anniversary next November. I really appreciated all the effort she made to ensure that I was MORE than satisfied with every part of my wedding.  I highly recommend the Hawthorne Hotel for a wedding!

I just got married at the Hawthorne hotel last month, I almost went with Peabody essex... I cannot begin to tell you how many of my guests called me to tell me how it was the best food they have ever eaten at a wedding and how beautiful the whole wedding was. I credit the coordinator Lindsay Otis, she was so incredibly helpful and paid attention to details i would have never even considered. I cannot say enough about her. If she is available you will not be dissappointed, trust me leave the details to her and enjoy your engagement....
    hope this is helpful

Linsay Otis at the Hawthorne is an extremely enthusiastic and accomplished wedding planner. As the MOB I had the opportunity to work with Lindsay who planned our daughter's wedding shower (Assembly House,Salem),wedding dinner (Peabody Essex Museum), and brunch (Hawthorne Hotel). Every event was carried out flawlessly. Her professionalism and ability to put both MOB and bride at ease was greatly appreciated! I must also add that the delicious food and dynamic catering staff/waiters added to a perfect experience for our entire family. 9

I absolutely reccomend Hawthorne Catering at the PEM. Our wedding was this past New Year's eve.  We had a very small amount of planning time (less than three months), but Lindsay Otis of Hawthorne Catering did an amazing job, in conjunction with Natalia from the PEM.  She was able to make fantastic reccomendations and was unbelievably responsive.  She was extremely patient with all of our vendors, very calm, and so capable.  We truly felt like we had a knowledgeable and reliable friend helping us to plan, and certainly helping us to celebrate at the actual wedding.  We also had a breakfast the next morning at the Hawthorne Hotel.  My parents planned the breakfast entirely and also raved about the service they received from Lindsay and the entire crew at Hawthorne.  We just cannot say enough good things!
