NWR: Any ideas for gift for one's boss?

I don't really have any clue to their tastes, but I am looking for generic ideas. (Have never gotten a gift on my own, usually where I worked did a "chip-in" gift. This job doesn't do that)

    How about a restaurant gift certificate or gift card?

    I thought about that, but i don't want anything with a dollar amount attached to it. Like, I would have no problem spending $20, $35 or $50 on a gift, but not a card that says I spent that amount. (I honestly doen't even know what an appropriate amount is!) but since nothing was gotten for bosses day, want to get a Christmas gift. Especially since I'm grateful to have a job this year.

    Rule of thumb in the corp world at least - its not necessary to get the boss a gift.
    As far as bosses day (every day is bosses day!)

    What I've done before in the past (if I really liked my boss) is Ibaked something and there was my gift. It always seemed appreciated.

    If you're dead set on doing something and don't want to bake...maybe do a gift basket....Grab a roll of cellophane and baskets from the dollar store...I was in there the other day and they had a bunch...For a female boss ... you can add candles, stress relief stuff, lotion from Bath & Body a coffee mug....for a guy do a basket w/ maybe the things he likes if you know? Does he life football? A theme type basket.

    Thanks! I thought about that but wasn't sure if it would be appropriate. Looks like a cookie basket is going to be made!

    I gave my co-workers brownie cookies today and have gotten good feedback (this was my second attempt, first was on thanksgiving with my family) So I think I will attempt my third try with my boss at the end of the week when he comes back.
