help! venues

I decided June 2013 is y month but to be fair, I've yet to even look at a venue. We just got engaged 2 weeks ago and will be choosing a venu in February.. am I really behind? any suggestions for a chic, affordable place for 100-110 with a 20K budget??

Hi! Congrats! Your not behind, but definitely start jotting down some ideas of what is a must-have, should-have and can live without for your wedding. And definitely start laying out a budget and talking with your family (if applicable) if you haven't done so already. Also, start collecting info for venues and maybe even start looking.

I got engaged in November (of who knows what year now!) and I wanted a June 2011 wedding. I starting compling info in November and starting looking in December. I ended up finding *the place* in the end of Feb/Early March and another bride was placing a deposit on my date that day! When I started looking in December I had my June date available at every venue (minus one room at one venue). Keep in mind that there are a lot of people getting engaged during the upcoming holidays so if your particular about venues, so you will definitely have more competition the longer you wait.

Where and what are you looking for in a venue? Are you having your ceremony at your venue or somewhere else? Do you want a city venue or outside the city? Is your 20k budget just for your venue or is that your total budget? If you give us more specifics we can help you narrow down venues.

Your definitely going to get more bang for your buck further from the city, but you also don't want to pick a location that's impossible for your guests to get too, especially if they are flying in. Also, restaurants are a lot cheaper than hotel ballrooms and typical wedding venues. Just some thoughts and keep us posted! Good luck!

I definately already have a list of 5 venues I like and a list of guests including the ones allowed for my parents and the future inlaws. Our plan is to start looking late February-early March
20K is my total for everything minus my dress. I want an outdoor ceremony and indoor reception. I am ok with an outside of Boston venue that is reasonable since the fiance family will be flying from CA.

congrats on your engagement!  we are also planning a 2013 wedding - april.  we are in the process of booking the venue...right now i think w're going to go with the millenium bostonian in faneuil hall.  the package pricing is unbelievably reasonable for being in the middle of the city.  right now we're working with ashley and she's amazing so far!  we are choosing this venue b/c of its location (my family will all be flying out from cali as well) and the view from the ballroom...its on the 4th floor and overlooks faneuil hall.  feel free to pm me if you have any questions!

I am getting married June 29, 2013. I just booked my venue this past week. I only looked at 3 places before finding "the one" but I do know that one of the venues I looked at was booked on my date and the venue I chose was completely booked for the weekend before mine. June is one of the more popular months! Its actually nice to just get it out of the way and now we can relax and focus on vendors!

The Warren Center in Ashland MA is a great venue if you are willing to go outside of Boston.  They have an inn for your guests to stay overnight at.  It was a major selling point for me, since no one has to drive after the reception.  Outdoor ceremony, indoor reception, tented patio area for cocktail hour.  GREAT food and service.  VERY resonably priced.  I would contact them soon though since they do book up fast.  Talk to Erika...she was my sales manager and was fantastic to work with!  I don't have a bad thing to say about them.  Good luck!
