Has anyone used Montilio's for their cake? If so, I'd appreciate your opinions! Thanks in advance!

Have you done a tasting yet?  We tasted their cakes and didn't like them.  We used Konditor Meister instead, we personally liked their cake a lot better.

We used them for our wedding and loved our cake!  Review in bio (under Vendor Reviews) and pic of our actual cake is in there too (under Cake).

Hi Erica,
   Our husband and I had the choice of going with KM or Montillio's because that was what came with our package.  I have never been a fan of KM cakes so we were going to go with Montillios regardless.  We went to the tasting at Montillio and the cakes we tried actually were not that good.  I thought they were "fine". 

Fast forward to our wedding day.  We go to feed each other the cake and I will never forget how delicious that damn cake was.  It was so good my husband and I started chowing down on the cake.

Our cake came out gorgeous too.  Our guests also loved the taste of the cake too.

I would go with Montillio's hands down.

I don't like Montilios or KM.  I am all about the frosting.  I HATE fondant and I have to have a butter cream frosting. Both use a crisco based frosting and not a butter frosting so they taste like car oil, IMO.  I am 6 months out and have yet to find a bakery I like yet.....UGH!  LOL

We had KM and it was very dry. Tried Montillos at a friend's wedding and it was DELICIOUS and moist.

We used them for a bridal shower and the cake we got (it was a mandarin flavored cake) was actually quite amazing. Plus they were great to work with.

I also got to choose between KM and Montilio's. (Wondering if Gina had her wedding in Quincy, too!)  I ordered a 40th birthday cake for my brother from the KM to give them a shot in advance....so I could get an honest experience, not just a trial.  I'm personally not a fan of their frosting.  I now realize that you either ARE, or you just aren't.  I paid over $250 for a 2 tiered round cake that I bought a put a few things on top.  They charged an extra $25 for a chocolate 'banner' that fell off before getting it 10 minutes down the road.  It wasn't my taste, and it cost more than I wanted to pay---however, they had fantastic service and were tremendously professional.  I won't be going back for my fiancee's birthday, though, as I'm now trying Fratelli's. I plan to try Montillio's for the next birthday. I still have 6 months to go, so I'm trying them all!!!
