NWR: LCD computer screens

Okay....I bought my computer about 2 years ago, and it has a lovely 21" LCD screen. Great, right? Well....recently it has been flickering, and now it randomly turns black.  It is about to do it right now, actually.  I can easily fix it by turning my monitor off and on again, but was just wondering if anyone knew why this was happening and/or how to fix it? I really don't want to pay someone to look at it since its not "broken".

my FI is somewhat of a computer whiz and says if the screen is flickering its most likely the video card inside the actual computer overheating... sometimes the cooling fans die he says or whatever the hell is is trying to say hahaha

he also says LCD screens dont last long so maybe it might be the screen... if you buy a new one and it does the same thing than its the card inside...

hth! i wish he would help me with this darn planning like he does computer stuff haha
