Catering Recommendations?

Does anyone know of a caterer the does family style? or specifically family style italian?

Is anyone else finding Boston area caterers to be rather expensive?? Anyone have any good tips or finds?

The venue is in Medford so north of the city would be best. Thanks!

They aren't north of the city, but Fasano's in Braintree.  I'm not using them, but I believe they offer what you are looking for.  fasanoscatering.com

I contacted about 20 different caterers until I found the right one.

ETA:  They were really nice when I spoke to them, no bad experience, they just weren't what we were looking for.  If you want to I can send you the list of all those that I contacted.

  • I know Russell Morins does family style, but they aren't north of the city (Attleboro).
I know they will work with you based on your budget and menu.
  • Also, not north of the city, but Tony & Penny is amazing and the price is even more amazing.

Buffet Way is also another option that is pretty good on price.
  • Thanks I will look into these... One of the caterers that I've talked to actually feels that Family style is even more expensive. Which is not really what I expected.

  • Family style can sometimes be priced higher because they have to assume everyone is going to eat more than just if they got a plated meal. For example if you have 100 guests and a chicken and a beef entree, they have to make 100 chicken portions and 100 beef portions because they don't know how much of each everyone's going to have. With a plated meal, you give the caterer a count and say 60 people are having beef and 40 are having chicken. It's cheaper for them because they know exactly how much of each thing to buy.
