Daytime Wedding? Schedule?

I am able to get a great price for a daytime reception from 12 to 5. With a ceremony at 1130. The venue location is one hour away. How should I do the day off wedding planning? How much time goes into hair, makeup etc? Does your makeup artist/ hair dresser usually come to your hotel? Do you see them? I guess I am just worried about a daytime weddig so early and fitting it all in. To have an evening wedding would be at least $2000 more.

Thanks

    You should contact a beauty specialist...try Noel McKinnon @ www.specialeventbeauty.com.  She can give you an idea how early you will have to start getting ready...really depends on the number in your wedding party.  If your ceremony is at 11:30, if it is not a full Mass then it should be about 30 minutes...then the travel time to the venue is 1 hour? so your cocktail hour starts at 12:30, you need photo time (at least 45 minutes) so if you are announced at say 1 you only have 4 hours for your meal to be served, dances, toasts, etc...then a little bit of time for fun.  I think it will be over before you know it (o;

    It depends on how many bridesmaids you have, etc. Yes you can find make-up artists that will come to you, I think most do, but you will have to start very early. We started at about 10, with 8 of us getting make up and hair. Our ceremony was at 4.

    I worked with Special Event Beauty. They do both hair and makeup. They came to the hotel where I was getting ready and where my ceremony and reception would be. They were great with figuring out when they needed to start just by working backwards from the time the photos were supposed to start. We did hair and makeup starting at 10 and pictures were at 4. They factor that each service (hair is one service, makeup is one service) takes about 30 minutes per service for the bridesmaids and moms and an hour per service for the bride. Just for reference, I had 4 bridal party members, two moms, and me getting ready together and it took them almost the whole 6 hours we had allotted. Depending on how many girls you have, you might be starting hair and makeup at 5 or 6 in the morning.

    I'm in the middle of planning my wedding as well and those are the exact times for ours. Here's the run-down for my wedding day as of right now. Ceremony at 11:30 and reception from 12-5. My hairdresser (who is also a good friend) got the salon to open up at 7:30 for us, they usually open up at 9. There will be my fiance's mom, my two bridesmaids, my MOH, my flower girl, and myself getting our hair and makeup done. They assure me that we will be done by 9:30, there will be like 5 or 6 hairdressers working on us. I think that will leave us enough time to get back to my parents' house (15 mins away) and get ready for the photographers/videographer to arrive at 10am. We are supposed to leave for the venue at 10:45 to be there at 11:15. I'm very nervous about how things will run on the day of but I'm trying not to stress out about it.

    Your venue location is one hour location from what? The ceremony location or your house/your parents house? If possible, I would see if you can have everything as close as possible, so if you are an hour away from your venue... get ready at a hotel and stay the night with your hubby. The hotel will work as best as possible with you for an early check-in and whatnot if you don't want to stay the night before.

    I actually went to a salon about 10-15 minutes away from my venue that the venue coordinator recommended. I only had 3 bridesmaids and myself and we all got ready pretty much at the same time since we all saw different stylists. I also had my make-up done there. So if you're short on time, that might be a good option. It was also slightly cheaper to go to the salon for us. However, nothing beats someone coming straight to you and your girls! You can stay in your pjs, relax and eat as much as possible (we did order pizza from the salon so we wouldn't be starving for the night!)

    I think the afternoon wedding is fine and definitely can be done for hair and make-up wise (especially if you have a smaller wedding party). Just keep in mind the earlier you have the wedding, the earlier you have to wake up! However, I was so excited that I woke up super early anyway :) Good luck!
  • It’s a tough debate. Friday evening wedding, Saturday Day or Sunday. Ideally, I would love a Saturday evening wedding. Thank you all for your ideas and suggestions. What I have decided is Saturday Day is out. My fiancé rather would have an evening wedding. A Saturday day is doable, based on what I have heard but I think I would feel stressed trying to get it all done. The cost difference between a Friday night versus a Saturday night is 15 per person. I am looking at 100 guest list. Is Friday night that much of a discount? Is it over my budget, yes. Both Friday and Saturday night are. However, can I cut costs elsewhere to make up the difference?
