Wedding Planner Cost

I've been looking at real weddings at my venue (CMAC - on photogs blogs and such), and almost every one mentions the wedding coordinator.  I am kind of nervous b/c there is a site coordinator and my caterer, but do I really need someone else.

The important vendors are all picked (ceremony site, florist, band, caterer, and almost photog).  I could probably use help with decor/ pulling everything together.  How much have people paid here for planners?

I know I can email a bunch of them myself but I'm sick of emailing vendors.

Re: Wedding Planner Cost

  • I know that my planner has  in-the-middle-of-planning packages (http://www.weddingsbyalexis.com/packages.php - maybe the Ruby, Sapphire, or Emerald packages would meet your needs?) She is expensive, but totally worth it. I can PM you the prices I have for her from 2009, but I'm not sure how helpful that would be...

The venue's coordinator is concerned mostly about the reception basics (food is on time, paying the bar bill, that sort of thing). They aren't going to help with those problems that inevitably creep up, vendor-related or otherwise. Without a planner of my own I would have been up the creek when one of my bridesmaids had the zipper on her dress break. The hotel coordinator didn't have time to help with that, but my planner and her assistant sewed my BM into her dress.
  • A former co worker of mine started her own event planning business and does wedding day of coordination.  Her prices start for just day of at $500.  I'll find her email address, but let me know your price range.  I know at one point she was pricing so high I didn't feel OK recommending her, but I think her prices dropped a bit.
  • I stuck to my budget, and my DOC was $500.  in my opinion, you get what you pay for!  She wasn't super responsive leading up to the wedding - but she was very helpful at the rehearsal & the day of.
    best day ever! Photobucket Anniversary
  • chumlee and kt can you post their contact info or pm me?

if i was to get someone I think like $500 would be all i can afford.
  • I do wedding plannig as a side "hobby". I work a full time job but would love to help with any of your needs and coordination. I also write a wedding blog. I am looking to get more hands-on experience so I would love to volunteer my time and efforts.
