When to start booking?

We crunched numbers and decided to push it up a year to 2014 because locally we can afford to do so--so next year will be 2 years before...when do places in our area start booking usually?

It varies depending on the time of year.  Peak wedding months (May thru Sept) tend to book quickly.  I think the average is about 12 to 15 months in advance.  It also depends on what venue you are looking at.  If it is a high demand venue you may want to start looking earlier so your sure to be able to reserve it.

It's never too early to start booking your vendors especially big ones like the church and reception venue. Some places might not be booking yet for 2014, but it never hurts to get in touch with them and let them know you're interested.

The sooner you book, the more time you have to pay for things....makes budgeting much easier!

So from next April on it should be okay?  (We are thinking possibly April 2014).  I don't want to book TOO far in advance, but I don't want to sit on it doing nothing either, ya know?

This is all so confusing....I don't even know where to start! >_<

</div><div>This.  They might be able to unofficially "pencil you in"  if you show interest.  Then once they can start booking they will most likely hold it until someone else shows interest in your date... then it's a race for who is able to get the deposit down ;) (if you are unofficially penciled in you usually have first dibs, but you will have to be ready for the deposit in case something like this happens.)

We are getting married in June 2013 and I've already got the venue, DOC, florist, and church booked.  Our date is popular and I didn't want to risk not getting our location, day of coordinator and florist.  The florist is already booking for fall of 2013.  I'd say book as early as you can.

Try booking at least 18 months in advance if you can. I called my first choice venue this past August, and they were booked for every Saturday through November 2012. I was looking to get married next summer :(

We booked everything 18 months in advance and they were already beginning to fill up, but that's for June which is a super popular wedding month.  April should be a little easier AND since it's considered "off season" at most places, you can usually get things much cheaper
