FI and I love rice crispy treats and I came across this this on weddinggawker.com
Now I totally want this instead of a traditional wedding cake.. is that crazy to serve guests Rice Crispy Treats instead of cake? LOL

If it's what you love, do it, but just know it might not be your guests cup of tea. If you do this, try to have another choice of dessert, like ice cream sundaes or something.

I think its freakin AWESOME!!! i personally am not a huge cake fan, but love rice krispies! but i agree w/shaz that you should def have an alternative dessert.

I love rice krispie treats too! The joke between FI and I is that at family gatherings, how many rice krispie treats will I find that day?

I agree with pp that if you serve this, have another dessert. Maybe if you wanted you could have a groom's cake or sheet cake, or something else all together.

Oh I like the Groom's cake idea!
We were also thinking of maybe doing a small dessert display and just having the venue cut the "Crispy Cake" into squares and put it on platters and just add it to the display

YUM, but I have to say, the bare krispies kind of freak me out.  But I can totally imagine it all decorated with ganache icing, or maybe even fondant over buttercream.  It would look more like a traditional wedding cake, and it would also taste amazing.  I've seen krispies used as an alternative to sheet cake in various episodes of The Cake Boss (for structural reasons), and I've already wanted to try some myself.
