What is a good price for a dj in our area?

I have a question. My fiance and I went to an expo and met with a Dj that we liked however there cost was $995.00 for 5 hours but we entered a raffle and we were able to get $100 dollars off to make it $895.oo for 5 hours including lights, set-up, travel, clean-up, and mics. Is that too much to be spending on the music or should that money go towards something else and try to find a cheaper dj company?

Even $995 is cheap. I am spending $1500, but music was super important to us. If you're comfortable with the DJ and liked their style, I'd say go for it!

We must have gone to the same Bridal Show, because I got the same "discount"
The $895 is a great price, however, I already have my DJ - only $550.00 for 5 hours with lighting included. My DJ does it as a side job, so he just wants to get paid for the night. He is a great DJ. If interested, go to facebook and look up Phat Bastard Entertainment.

That is a very reasonable price. We paid triple that.

KrisKenny, I just tried going on Phat Bastard Entertainment and it was working. It showed up with a page but with nothing on it. I was interested so I thought I'd check it out but I can't. Did he take down his page?
