I want a wedding dress, off the rack! Any suggestions?

Hey ladies,

I am am getting married in May and still have not bought a dress, (No need for scolding, I know this is awful... But I really wanted to lose weight before I went shopping)

Now, I am thinking my best bet would be to look for dresses I can buy off the rack. Any suggestions as to places to look? I'd love any/all suggestions!  I am in the South of Boston area, but I will travel =)

Thanks in advance.!

I know Priscilla of Boston is closing so everything there is 70% off.  You could probably find something really beautiful and cheap and get it off the rack.

VOWS in watertown is a sample store - nearly all their dresses are buy off the rack.  I know that Camilla's in Arlington and Allegria in Belmont recently had sample sales... so you could call and see if they are selling samples now too.

I was just going to say Vows in Watertown! Everything is off the rack and you take it home that day. I bought my dress there!

I also like the Priscilla of Boston idea! You'd definitely be able to take it home that day!

    Another vote for Vows.

It is not a huge deal to buy off the rack but really inspect the dresses for wear and tear. No price deal makes up for a shabby dress or missing pieces. Also, always make sure to alter and the dress will look like it was made for you!

Filene's Basement is going out of business and they still have a lot of wedding dresses.  Might be worth a look -- you could find a great deal!

I bought my dress off the rack at Vows in Watertown.  I made sure to inspect it first for any damage (there wasn't any), but they also dry clean it for you before you take it home!

I was at Filene's Basement at the Arsenal Mall in Watertown on Friday and they had a ton of wedding dresses. Everything is 50% off.

I am going to second Davids Bridal and Filenes Basement.

I also bought mine on Ebay after trying it on in person - like I went to the store, tried the dress I wanted on, then bought it online for half the price.

GL! :-) You're still got time, no worries. My first wedding I did it all between Feb and Sept.

As a PP said, Party Dress Express. Do a dot com and you can view their selections online.

I got mine from a consignment shop. I spent $600 on a Maggie Sottero, unaltered. A new one opened in Middleboro MA called Magnolia's (site is magnoliasbridalboutique dot com) and I was just in there Saturday. They have some very nice selections. Even MOB's stuff for cheaper.

    Hope this helps you!
