wedding venue/ceremony site

Hello,  we are looking for a ceremony/reception site that is inexpensive yet modern.  We have really nice taste but dont want to spend alot because we would rather buy a house....do we elope on an island alone (we have a big family) or is there any places for a smaller 60 person wedding somewhere in the Boston area?  Please help!

We looked at many places and it came down to DoubleTree Bedford Glen and Dedham Hilton. We choose DoubleTree Bedford Glen due to the money and loved the outdoor space. They have a few options for room space for a smaller wedding or a bigger wedding. The lady Jocelyn is a sweetheart and willing to work with you on a budget. If you have any questions feel free to pM me with any questions. I found my place through rec's as well.

I was the same exact way! What is your budget pp? We are getting married at Pine Manor College in chestnut hill. It's very different from your typical ballroom. The reception is in an old mansion with high ceilings and dark wood walls. It's absolutely gorgeous, but you have to like that style. We are having a reception outside on the lawn. The max they fit is 90 people and there are no minimums. It's really affordable! Email me is you have any questions. Danielledom143@hotmail.com

my total budget is around $10k- $12k is that doable at Pine Manor...the space looks gorgeous.  Also did you use a caterer?

You have to use their caterer which is Aramark. I think it's doable if you are having 60 people. They have different options like buffet/stations or just a cocktail reception and depends on open bar vs cash. It really all depends on what type of food you are looking for. It's worth looking into. I am doing family style with a signature cocktail/beer/wine for 138pp. But like I said it depends on food and bar options.

I would second the Bedford Glen DoubleTree. I looked there but our date was already taken, so we ended up using the Tiffany Ballroom at the Four Points by Sheraton in Norwood. They were FANTASTIC and will totally work with your budget.

DO NOT fool yourself into thinking a destination wedding is cheaper.  It's costing me an arm, a leg, and a few hands, too....We're getting married in Florida with only 20 people attending and yet it's still running me around $12K just for the wedding/reception without needing flowers for bridesmaids, etc.  I'm also having a reception back here that is running closer to $25K.  It makes me sick to think about all of the money I'm spending....

You should know that most venues charge around 25%-30% extra in fees, tips, and taxes---over and above what you spend.  SO be sure to plan for that, too. Budgeting is super hard.  Good luck!

If you're interested in the south shore at all, I had my wedding at Sandy Beach in Cohasset which was free (they just ask for a donation).  Then our reception was at the Atlantica in Cohasset.  It's a beautiful venue on the harbor.  We married on a Friday night which is a 6k minimum.  We had 80 people with a fantastic dinner and open bar for 4 hours.  We spent about 15k.

Hmmm. I am so sorry. I thought I was on my original post (I asked a similar question). Somehow I ended up here (looks like someone else's question). But thank you everyone- it is a big help nevertheless : )
